Kile, it must be interesting to view the world as black and white. You have stated your views extremely well in your last two posts. One issue is morality it is possible to have a moral code and note be a right winger. Justin, the choice of Moa was because he strong believed in a moral code (even f it was his and view the world in terms of black and white. This got me thinking, if I could remove any 4 of our current politicians and would be politicians. Here are my fourchoices of those that scare me enough to loose sleep. 1. Ashcroft 2. Rev Al Sharpton 3. Pat Roberson 4. Jesse Jackson. (ps what do these 4 have in common.)

I don't find a fault with Ashcroft, and he doesn't seem to have anything in common with the others. He is not a forgiving person when it comes to crime, whereas Sharpton and Jackson are, when it comes to people of their own race. They are chitlin' sucking con men as far as I am concerned. Pat Robertson is an ex Marine (Semper Fi) turned evangelist, who knows.

I have been fooled by a lot of people in my life, and it is all staged on the boob tube, so we don't really know "WHAT EVIL LURKS IN THE HEARTS OF MEN"(THE SHADOW KNOWS).

Thanks gentlemen, for the input.

I cringe Justin, when I hear things like 'Canada has a heavy French influence'. Yes there is an influence, yes it is our 2nd official language; but please don't go home believing the country as a whole has a heavy French influence.

Yes 'La-La land', the province west of the Rockies, is a vibrant and beautiful piece of land. I see today that WorldCom is trying to sell the Douglas Lake Ranch - some 200,000 acres - that it took over from Mr. Ebbers. La-La land is considered the most socialist province, and that does tend to make people more vocal. They have been encumbered in their attempts to bring intelligent politics to B.C., mostly due to the Premiers who have tried to lead that charge in the past years. Three consecutive premiers have been mired in Bingo Hall receipts scandals, Casino licence kick back influence peddling, and the most recent - this month - the fella on holidays in Hawaii blowing .16 after being pulled over by police on the road.

Kile, I was genuinely moved by your 1/27 22.47 post. But I must add, I have never heard or seen a Franco newfie, maybe they are just the ones that are the hardest to understand what they say, but that would indeed be quite a combination - a pair of eggs side by each, with a vachon cake, washed down with a glass of Screech.

I think it is kind of funny that when Ashcroft was a Senator he was merely a conservative Senator. But as soon as he was nominated as Attorney General, the Democrats and the Media jumped all over him because he goes to church on Sunday. I am not a religious man, but I won't hold another man's religion against him as long as it doesn't interfere with his job. So far I have not seen anything in Ashcroft's actions as Attorney General that have even hinted at religion getting in the way. If I were to make the same list that Mark did, It would look the same except I would remove Ashcroft and replace him with the name Clinton, Bill and Hillary are the two most dangerous people in this country.

Very good comments and enjoying the different views.

I hope tonights State of the Union address will provide something on the so called "smoking gun issue" and rally our so called allies along with a lot of folks here in the U.S.

I can't help but to wonder when a country comes out against us are they just looking for something in return? What does Canada need ?

Just came across "How taxes work"

Comments from liberals.

Great analogy. If a bunch of regular Joes like us can understand that, why can't those elite, Ivy League journalists and Democrats understand that.

Sorry about the joke. I thought it was funny and my father a Democrate liked it also.

and now.

Kile loved your post along with everyone else’s.

What more do we need along with our allies??

Anthrax-missing, warheads not accounted for, along with firing in the no fly zone and many more.

Now today in the news everyone wants to wait for another report from the inspectors until 2-14-2003.

Again I will watch tonight to see what is said and I hope it is strong towards our so-called friends.

I am just about sick and tired of the UN and ready to go it alone and just see who is with us. I don’t like war at all and dead against it however it is time to stand up and be accounted for or give back our money and stand along.

Man I guess I need a claim to work on. Don’t see that in the future with the weather along with all of us out of work.

Any comments tomorrow on the speech and of course the rebuttals will be examined.

Thank goodness for England.

Please look at a new post Health Insurance and let me know if I should find something else to do with my time along with suggestions on what. Keep it clean.

Today's News: Schwarzkopf Nervous About Iraqi Invasion

WASHINGTON (Reuters)(Jan. 28) - Former U.S. Gulf War commander Norman Schwarzkopf says he needs more information before he can support a preemptive invasion of Iraq, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday.

''The thought of (Iraqi President) Saddam Hussein with a sophisticated nuclear capability is a frightening thought, OK?'' the retired general was quoted as saying.

''Now, having said that, I don't know what intelligence the U.S. government has. And before I can just stand up and say, 'Beyond a shadow of a doubt, we need to invade Iraq,' I guess I would like to have better information.''

Schwarzkopf said U.N. weapons inspectors, who reported on Monday that Iraq failed to show it has eliminated illegal weapons, should be allowed to drive any timetable leading to war.

''I think it is very important for us to wait and see what the inspectors come up with, and hopefully they come up with something conclusive,'' he said.

Schwarzkopf said he was impressed by the performance of Secretary of State Colin Powell but was somewhat nervous about comments made by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.

''When he makes his comments, it appears that he disregards the Army,'' he was quoted as saying. ''He gives the perception when he's on TV that he is the guy driving the train and everybody else better fall in line behind him -- or else.''

I have a great respect for Stormin' Norman, but I have to take issue with that last statement. If he is referring to the millitary, Rumsfeld is driving the train and everyone else in the Millitary is shovelling the coal. He is the one in charge at the 5 sided puzzle palace. If you wish to extend the analogy a little further the White house would be the dispatcher and the American public is paying the freight.

Well, I just finished watching and listening to 'GW'. It worked for me, but I was a 'hawk' before 9.00 PM anyway. Almost want to scabbard my 30/30 and take the earliest bus out. I have enough trouble running on the beaches of Cancun, let alone some foreign desert, but I can cook pretty good and if that would help; I'd be humbled to be allowed.

Quite seriously, The Man has spelled it out very well, I just wish I could do more to convince those still on the sidelines - the time is now. It is not like Hitler's armies massing on a border that any recon could interpret as an imminent threat of invasion. This is a threat that walks your streets, that for the most part can not be seen, and carries out their acts without warning. That type of threat must be aggressively eliminated.

My humble prayers and thoughts go to each and every person that will tackle this aggression, and I ask that their parents and families have courage as these brave people do what is necessary to accomplish the task ahead.

Gen.Norm is a Calculating Retired General, he cares about body count. He said what I would expect. He is not privy to intellegence reports, so he is a "Know Before You Go " type. I doubt he would be detered by fear. But you can bet your buttons, he would not hesitate to get the job done.

He saw the way things were handled in Vietnam, and vowed never again, would he be a party to the total disregard for the lives of the men who were on the front.

He saw there probably more than I saw, But as an example, we had politicians running the war, and the press feeding them public opinion, which in reality was their own.

On Feb. 26, 1966 while with the 3d Marine forward, NVA regulars were massing on the DMZ, three Batallions. Orders went out to send two rifle companies to probe, the visability was bad, it was during the rainy season, therefore no air cover. These companies were ordered to engage the enemy.
The result was 232 body bags, the bodies, because they had wallets missing and dog tags removed
at the request of Hanoi Janes crowd, they had to be identified. These items were sent back to the states and given to the families by the anti-war movement along with their propaganda. India and Kilo Company paid the ultimate price. The son of a friend I had served with many years was in the group, I identified him. I had known him since he was about eight.
It was the next day before we could get an airstrike called in and then it was with WWII prop Navy planes, one pilot was hit yet landed safely and passed out, he had most of his ordanance still on board with one two hundred pounder dangling, that didn't release. I have no Idea if the pilot made it, I hope he did.
Korea wasn't much better, a police action they called it. The body count didn't indicate that.
AT least the American people didn't call us baby killers, they more or less ignored that conflict, as though it didn't exist. This was another war run by politicians.

I can tell you up front, of course the Gen. is nervous about what is said, and I know what is going through his mind. His concern is the same as mine, will the politicians take control of the war or will they allow the Generals to do their job. That we won't know until the deed is done.

If the politicians run the war, they will run it according to public opinion which is the press and media. That bothers the General, it bothers me and should bother everyone.
