2. Allstate Texas Lloyds 10. Allstate These both carry the "good hands" brand, collectively at a 14.5% marketshare claims count - u/k cat vendors - Pilot, has exclusive IA contract for cat work I/A cat adj - u/k other methods - carrier cat claim call center, staff cat field personnel (head count u/k)
Can't give out claims count b/c we are publicly held company and this could affect the market. I am not sure how many adjusters are here, but we don't typically use the cat call center for hail damage, just supplements. How could someone in IL know if someone in TX had hail dmg to the roof??? We don't "total" a zip code like I have heard other companies sometimes do.
Sorry, this is all I can add right now. I don't go into the office so I am just not sure how many people are working this storm representing Allstate.

Thanks 'hurricane' for your logical comments, that I do understand. However, I did personally confirm with a source "close to the action" that the Allstate nat cat call center has taken in claims from the ISO event in question. I am aware that they would not normally deal in that method with FNOLs noted as "hail damage to roof", but there are other claim descriptions that would work into that channel. |

The pie may have just gotten a little bigger. I just confirmed with a friend in the region that North Richland Hills, in the DFW area, just got hit with baseball sized hail...Again. Maybe more pie to go around. |

C'mon you Pilot guys...those doing the Good Hands usually get a roster of the troops at the storm site. Please send us the total number on the sheet. Also, if you hear the office banter as to total number of claims. please let us know. Jennifer, since you are a 'known' person, we understand your position.
The same goes for the rest of y'all at Big Red and Big FIG. I know the Wardlaw troops can let us know. Same goes for any Eberl's adjuster. Please, no names are needed or wanted, just raw numbers. Here's our chance to either prove Clayton's hypothesis, or blow it out of the water.
We need your info. |

David, if we could ever get sufficient data to complete the survey as found in the body of this thread, then an analysis of that data would likely shed some light on your observation; ".... and yet it seems many still sit at home". |

I have not received any further data to incorporate into the survey since Friday morning last.
I will be out of town on a project until sometime Thursday, and will update the survey at that time with whatever data becomes available from those caring to provide it. |

I see that this thread has fallen to #11 on the "General" chart. I have not received any additional data in about 6 days. These are my concluding remarks, providing a summary only of the available data, relative to this 285,000 claim count in Texas for this ISO event.
carrier claims count - 66,000 (23% of the ISO Texas total)
Cat vendors - Crawford, Cunningham, Eberl, Pilot, Renfroe, RJMW, Worley (7 named)
I/A Cat adjusters - +/- 625
Other Methods - +200 staff cat adjusters, +102 "staff & nat cat adjusters, carrier cat claims call center, "staff people", d/d staff adjusters, +10 d/d vendors & their adjusters, P/V programs, I/A adjusters direct to carriers. These "other methods" have an undefineable total.
Obviously, the majority of the data was not made available, and hence the figures noted for each heading used have no real meaning, other than to illustrate the lack of participation for whatever reasons.
I think everyone has missed out on an opportunity to see how the industry responds to a significant cat event, relative to the types and methods of personnel utilized. |

Clayton I agree 100% with you that the information you're after would make us better informed. However, I have to believe that those who have that information believe it should be given out on a "need to know" basis. Obviously, they feel we don't need to know. Ignorance is bliss??? |

Davey, or anyone else, what benefit does another cat adjuster derive from not providing information that he / she may have regarding the attempted analysis? What benefit does a cat vendor achieve from not knowing how their marketplace is segmented?
Anyway, I've received more input, more in the form of an observation or comment; and I pass it along for consideration.
"..... looking at your ISO figures of 285,000 claims in Texas if cat adjusters were given 125 files each that would have meant work for 2280 cat adjusters, or about 3 1/2 times the number of cat adjusters you could find out about. Of the 1655 cat adjusters that would have made up the difference from your number of 625 - is there that many active cat adjusters? Do you think the total of 625 that you came up with is 1/2 of the cat adjusters who were working in Texas or more than 1/2? Since it is fee schedule work if the average net fee to the adjuster would be around $195 that means the potential cat adjuster net was about $55,575,000 in net fees - figure out the gross money! Considering all this I doubt that the number of cat adjusters working in Texas for your survey amounted to more than 700 people. I'm sorry you couldn't get more information ...."
Well, I have my thoughts on this, but I can't base them on anything concrete to make a sound conclusion. |

I didn't mean that a CAT adjuster would withhold info. On the contrary, they would probably tell all. I'm talking about the carriers. To many of them we are too far down the food chain to bother with. |

A little information on Farmers. Wardlaw Claims does most of there claims and at this time the don't have alot of adjusters out in the Dallas area at this time. The cost for the insurance companys is just so great that they are doing alot in house to try and keep cost down and then they have some control on how fast claims are being do. Because we all knoe that staff adjusters work at a much slow pace then we do. |

Do I see that word "control" again, in the hands of the carrier? |
