Grace will reach Texas on Sunday with winds that may reach 50 mph and she will be wet. Meanwhile Fabian is now a Cat 3 with the NHC expected to post the winds at 5pm as 115mph and possible further strengthening. The heat being pushed north by a large power hurricane can raise pressures and this may be a factor in Grace not recurving out to sea. An interesting few days ahead. |

Take a look southwest of Fabian. That blob looks better organized than Grace has so far. I wouldn't be suprised if that became TD12. The only thing is it may be a little too far south or if it does move north behind Fabian the water will be too cool for strengthening because Fabian sucked it all up. If it can stay just to the south of Fabian's path but get far enough north to pick up some good rotation then it may be a major player in the Carribean and the Gulf in a few days.
College football and hurricanes this weekend. What more can we ask for. |

Grace had almost no wind, maybe a foot or so of storm surge and about 4 inches of rain. The predictions so far this year haven't been very good. Caught us off guard. When we went to bed last night at about 11pm, the storm was forecast to go into Corpus or there abouts. This morning when I woke up, it was coming into Galveston.
Good thing there wasn't much there because we were caught off guard for the second time this year.
Have a great Labor Day Wally |

Charles, who has American Indian ancestors, is in his yard as I write this, in full tribal dress dancing his fool head off. It is the best we can do..... Well that and I am headed down to the car wash. |

Once there was a blonde driving home from work when she saw a sheep farm. She stops and asks the farmer if she can have a sheep. The farmer says "If you can count all my sheep I'll let you have any one you want." The blonde looks around her for a moment and says, "You have 356 sheep." The farmer exclaims, "Wow -- you're exactly right. I guess blondes really aren't dumb. Now go pick yourself out a sheep."
The blonde makes her choice, picks it up, comes back to the farmer to thank him. "Oh no, " he says, "you can't have that one." "Why not?" asks the blonde, "you said I could have any sheep I wanted." And the farmer says, "Ma'am, that's my dog." The Moral of this story is: the "dogs" don't count. Or as Ghosbuster might say, enough of the flapdoodle and more of the flapjacks. |
