(I have copied the following post from the Bulletin Board to make sure no one misses this important message from Cheryl Joyce, regarding Tom Joyce, a long time CADO supporter and veteran poster and adjuster of the highest order. Tom is a close friend and confidant and my thoughts and prayers are with he, Cheryl and their family.)
************************************************
For those of you have had the honor of reading past posts from TOM JOYCE and being enriched from his knowledge I would ask that you please place him in your prayers. Tom is in critical condition at the Guadalupe Hospital in Sequin, TX (Please do not call the hospital). You can send any e-mails here to my e-mail address and I will take them and read them to him, should he be with us much longer. He no longer has e-mail. My email address is ----cjoyce60@earthlink.net.
HOPEFULLY THIS MAY REACH HIM THROUGH THE COMA AND LET HIM KNOW HE IS THOUGHT OF.
Tom is on life support, at this time. Yesterday was a bad day but the day before, he actually could grunt as if to say "uh huh" He was able to acknowledge that I was talking on his sister's cell phone. Tom had fallen down some stairs and got banged up pretty bad. He received some bad cuts on his knees. The wounds had caused Tom's weakened system to developed infection and his body had become septic and heptic (I'm no medical person - I don't understand all this). I do know that he had become comatose before he was found, in the floor of his bedroom.
Please pray for an acceptable quality of life for him and that God's will be done, for him please not to suffer.
Tom and I were married for 8 years. Tom and I were both adjusters and met doing CAT work in 1993 in Florida. I have NEVER met a better adjuster and NEVER met a more wonderful man. Tom's knowledge of this industry IS top of the line. He has more diplomas and certificates and designations that could plaster an entire four walls of a room. The loss of all this knowledge is truly a loss to this industry. His loss to me has truly been devastating.
Tom has battled many tragedies over the past several years--- Battles that I could no longer help him with. This is a very difficult post for me to make. You folks on this web-site were the best friends he had - you were the only way he got to continue using his knowledge, Tom became 100% dependent upon me (we were very close) and he would not compete against my career and he got to where he would not accept out of town assignment because we would have to be apart. ( I work for a major company and have a designated territory - it was not allowed that two family members could work in the same office so he could not get local work). He turned to YOU - sharing his experience and wisdom of the industry.
Tom had moved to be near a medical facility and immediate family, where he could get medical attention and help for his previous disease. We were in contact almost everyday and he was working hard to recover and get well. He had been on the road to recovery for the past 8 months and doing well. His physical body was still weak, with the infection caused by the new wounds, his body was not strong enough to fight it.
Please send your prayer to God to help him and to eliminate his pain. So many of you were household names in our home. We discussed this web site daily, we talked about everything you talked about, you were his link to sanity, outside of me. Tom found friendship in many of you and talked with some of you by phone on many occasions.
I'm sorry if some of the info here appears too personal, but this web site was his extended family up until about a year ago. Please remember him in your prayers, if you are not a religious person, then just send your thoughts of well being, anything is powerful - but there IS an almighty superior and we need his help more than ever right now.
God Bless each and every one of you, I hope you all are having a good start for the new year. If you read this message and did not know Tom, you have missed a "wise man". I know there are many of you on this website that has as much experience and knowledge and more as Tom, best wishes to you all.
I know that not everyone out there is being able to use or share all their knowledge and it almost feels like defeat. Please keep walking forward, never give up. If you have a talent for this business, put your name out there one more time, come back to this channel, find another channel along with this one, but don't give up, don't throw in the towel. Don't let demons get you. Good luck to you all.
I have been a veteran in the insurance business for 23 years over half that time in claims, there is not much I have not seen or heard. This industry is not loyal, but friendships and relationships can be.
Thank you for allowing me to post here on this channel, I, along with my husband, Tom were among the original members when the site began.
Please pray and God Bless ALL of you.

For a number of years, Tom Joyce has posted on CADO with wise and useful information. That is how I met him and ended up being a friend on the net and by phone. Tom and I started talking on the phone quite frequently, trying to help each other and others who needed help. He was always a character and understanding. For some time now, I had not heard from him and was concerned as to why he had not called and why I could not longer reach him. Now I know. I, like many of you wish we had known Tom had a problem, whatever it was. I, like many others would have jumped at the chance to help, cause thats what you do when a friend needs help. If he slips away from us, he will be missed. If you are religious, pray for him, if you are not, look to the stars and ask the master of all to help him in this time of need. There is no greater power, than that of the Master of the Universe, so let us call upon him to assist the Joyce family.
Now is the time to think of your friends and let them know you are there and that you care about them. To all my friends, real friends, I know who you are and I care for you and wish you the best. My friends know that if they need help in any way, they have but to call me or Janice. |

Cheryl,
Please convey my sincerest wishes to Tom for a recovery.
As stated above I have not heard from Tom for many months, despite a long and welcomed relationship. I'm sure that he did not wish to burden anyone with his problems as that is just the sort he is.
Our small ensemble of friends, (the extended family), are always willing to assist in whatever manner we can.
Tom, when you hear this, know that ALL of your friends are with you, wherever you may be.
Thank you for being my friend,
Dave |

Thank you to all. You are all just exactly the people that Tom believes that you are. He truly has the utmost respect for each one of you and I can not remember ever him saying a negative word about any of you. He truly believes that each one of you are his friend. All of these messages prove it.
Please forgive me if I miss a response to any of your kindness, it would only be missed by accident of my reply, not because it is not appreciated or dismissed as unimportant. I have many hats to which I wear and "honest gratefullness" is one of the hats. I am 500 miles away from Tom and I am juggling my job so that I can get to him and read all of your kind words. I expect to be with him within the next three days, God be willing for both of us. Thank you all and God Bless you and your family and each one of your careers. Cheryl

Cheryl and Tom, You are in my prayers and heart. I have learned so much from Tom's posts and more from his loyality to the adjusters on the CADO site. I pray that God will ease his pain and comfort your heart. Claude Wilson |

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and Tom in this time of need.
I know that I speak for all who know you both and believe that you both are a class act and a friend to all "Cat" people. I have had many long conversations with Tom and know him as an honorable, knowledgeable, and just a plain “good” guy.
I will pray that we at RAC Adjustments, Inc. will soon have the privilege to work with Tom and you in the near future. If that is not God’s will, it will be our loss not to have had that chance.
May God Bless you and Tom and if it be His will, may He bring Tom back to good health so those that have not met Tom may have the chance to meet a “good friend.”
God Bless, Jim Lakes, RPA National Catastrophe Director RAC Adjustments, Inc.

Prayer For Tom Joyce
Father,Forgive our sins and weaknesses in the flesh, and hear our prayers. We come boldly in spirit before the throne and ask that you hear our plea.
Our brother needs your intervention, Tom Joyce is healed according to scriptures, In that your son was tortured and crusified on the cross and "by his stripes we were healed". Make that come to pass, if it is your will. We join together on this forum to make intersession on his behalf and pray he be spared from the god of this world, which is the destroyer, that he be among his family and friends once again in health and happiness. That I may know him also, because I never had the pleasure of knowing this brother of so many. I bring to your rememberance, when Peter tried to walk on water, how his lack of faith prevented him from doing so, thus give us the strength and wisdom to have faith that we may claim victory over his illness through your intervention. In the name of the FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT we pray, amen.
Power is given unto them that agree, remember those words and this prayer and AGREE.

Thank you to all and may God bless and keep you too. Cheryl |

He is not better, there is more infection from an unknown source, the doctors are culturing to try to locate it. He is still on assisted breathing, they did start tube feeding which he has appeared to tollerate, he also has a straight line IV (there is a nother name but I don't recall it), this is where the line is sewen into a main artery. They had to do this because the meds going in are so caustic and are ruining the veins. I will report more after tomorrow. I just wanted to give some good news because everyone has been so caring and so concerned and thoughtful, I just wanted to be able to say something good, but each day a new complication. I'm just not good at this part.
Thank you all, as I do feel so much more closer to all of you and I know Tom does too. Best regards and God bless you all. |

Uhhhh...just so you know, about 2:30 this afternoon I hand delivered a get well card to Tom's room in ICU. He did not respond to the nurses aide so I left. I signed the card for all of us and left it on the stand next to his bed. |
