The Grench had good relations with the Germans till the allies started the invasion. The Vechi French were for the Germans and they were in control. De gall (GAUL) was an American and Brittish hater from the git go. Roosevelt and Winston thought he was an idiot, a pompus idiot.
Heck they cheer for anyone comming to town in force. They had a lot of underground but if the truth be known, they were opportunists. Most likely wanted for other crimes.
Saddam owes them big time and if we kick him out then the Grench won't get paid by the Iraqis nor will our other so called friends. I say take back all our McDonalds or send a lot more over and kill them with cholesterol and big macs.

With war tensions and the uncertainty of what the next few weeks will hold, I'd like to lighten the mood of this thread with a little French bashing. I know we all love it. Below is a list that my octogenerian grandfather emailed me.

"France has neither winter nor summer nor morals. Apart from these
drawbacks it is a fine country. France has usually been governed by prostitutes."
---Mark Twain

"I would rather have a German division in front of me than a French one behind me."
--- General George S. Patton

"Going to war without France is like going deer hunting without your accordion."
--Norman Schwartzkopf

"We can stand here like the French, or we can do something about it."
---- Marge Simpson

"As far as I'm concerned, war always means failure"
---Jacques Chirac, President of France

"As far as France is concerned, you're right."
---Rush Limbaugh,

"The only time France wants us to go to war is when the German Army is sitting in Paris sipping coffee."
--- Regis Philbin

"You know, the French remind me a little bit of an aging actress of the 1940s who was still trying to dine out on her looks but doesn't have the face for it."
---John McCain, U.S. Senator from Arizona

"You know why the French don't want to bomb Saddam Hussein?
Because he hates America, he loves mistresses and wears a beret. He is French, people."
--Conan O'Brien

"I don't know why people are surprised that France won't help us get Saddam out of Iraq. After all, France wouldn't help us get the Germans out of France!"
---Jay Leno

"The last time the French asked for 'more proof' it came marching into Paris under a German flag."
--David Letterman

How many Frenchmen does it take to change a light bulb?
One. He holds the bulb and all of Europe revolves around him.

Next time there's a war in Europe, the loser has to keep France.

SEVERE EARTHQUAKE IN FRANCE

March 12, 2003. Today it was reported that a severe earthquakes have occurred in 10 different locations in France. The severity was measured in excess of 10 on the Richter Scale. The cause was the 56,681 dead American soldiers buried in French soil rolling over in their graves.

According to the American Battle Monuments Commission there are 26,255 Yankee dead from World War I buried in 4 cemeteries in France. There are 30,426 American dead from World War II buried in 6 cemeteries in France. These 56,681 brave American heroes died in their youth to liberate a country which is guilty of shameful unspeakable behavior in the 21st century. May the United States of America never forget their sacrifice as we find ways to forcefully deal with the Godforsaken unappreciative, forgetful country of France!

Saw this article tonight, wouldn't it be great if it were true and we could remove Sadam without a shot.

And the plot thickens. I think William Saphire has found some of what France desperately wants to keep the world from finding out. Could this be just the tip of the iceberg?

Jim, I did not mean to write off the Democrats in 2004 or be away for a while. I think most people agree there is very little connection with the economy and who is in the White House but anything negative is blamed on the “in” party by the “out” party. With the stock market not expected to bottom until the 4th quarter of 2005 I for one say Bush will have a hard row to hoe in 2004. The 2005 long term bottom cycle (relative to the 2nd quarter of 2002 high) was calculated long before any candidates were known to be running in the 2000 race but never the less expect the noise makers to be making an issue about the economy in the 2004 race. At least in this industry claims are adjusted and paid in a timely manner regardless of who is president, what the stock market is doing or the rate of interest making it a recession proof industry compared to others where things can be put on hold like trading cars. There is nothing politically to be gained by anyone in the middle east but there is a lot to be lost for standing up to the 30 years of death and destruction going on in Iraq. Finding out the UN is a paper tiger in making demands but not trying to enforce them may be a net gain for the world in the long haul in that it only functions in peace time or minor conflicts.

All politics aside, it seems our troops are standing on the shores of the Rubicon and they are beginning to dip their toes into the water. Once it is crossed, please, no matter how you feel about the campaign, stand behind them and hope that they all come home safe and soon.

Kile you correct in my view but I doubt it will happen. It is clear from the article link below that all sides of this issue are not being viewed in equal light. Death for power is murder but Saddam seems to have the world behind him but being right will be the thing that counts most in conclusion.

I wish to echo Kile's sentiment. Those young lads are laying it out so everybody in this country can have the freedom to speak their mind while they obey their orders. I consider it a personal affront when people take it out on the troops for doing their jobs as ordered. Just support them and pray for them, and take a bus to Florida to ensure no more "hanging chads" if you don't agree with this administration's policy. (By the way, I have three very close nephews "in harms way" at this very time)

Tom this is the first time I remember having a close family member in harms way and it does make it real. Maybe this waiting game has an upside for our fighters. If Iraq does not man their guns it is just better for our family members.

Does Anyone remember this??

It was 1987! At a lecture the other day they were playing an old news video of Lt.Col. Oliver North testifying at the Iran-Contra hearings during the Reagan Administration.

There was Ollie in front of God and country getting the third degree, but what he said was stunning!

He was being drilled by a senator; "Did you not recently spend close to $60,000 for a home security system?"

Ollie replied, "Yes, I did, Sir."

The senator continued, trying to get a laugh out of the audience, "Isn't that just a little excessive?"

"No, sir," continued Ollie.

"No? And why not?" the senator asked.

"Because the lives of my family and I were threatened, sir."

"Threatened? By whom?" the senator questioned.

"By a terrorist, sir" Ollie answered.

"Terrorist? What terrorist could possibly scare you that much?"

"His name is Osama bin Laden, sir" Ollie replied.

At this point the senator tried to repeat the name, but couldn't pronounce it, which most people back then probably couldn't. A couple of people laughed at the attempt. Then the senator continued. Why are you so afraid of this man?" the senator asked.

"Because, sir, he is the most evil person alive that I know of", Ollie answered.

"And what do you recommend we do about him?" asked the senator.

"Well, sir, if it was up to me, I would recommend that an assassin team be formed to eliminate him and his men from the face of the earth."

The senator disagreed with this approach, and that was all that was shown of the clip.

By th e way, that senator was Al Gore

Also:

Terrorist pilot Mohammad Atta blew up a bus in Israel in 1986. The Israelis captured, tried and imprisoned him. As part of the Oslo agreement with the Palestinians in 1993, Israel had to agree to release so-called "political prisoners."

However, the Israelis would not release any with blood on their hands, The American President at the time, Bill Clinton, and his Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, "insisted" that all prisoners be released.

Thus Mohammad Atta was freed and eventually thanked the US by flying an airplane into Tower One of the World Trade Center. This was reported by many of the American TV networks at the time that the terrorists were first identified. It was censored in the US from all later reports.

If you agree that the American public must be made aware of this fact, pass this on.

That story about Ollie North is only partially true, the terrorist's name was Abu Nidal, not Bin Laden. Gore was not a memeber of the commitee in front of which Ollie North testified.

As much as I would like this story to be true, it simply isn't. Below is the link to the information debunking the story. It just goes to show, while the net is a great way to get information, you can't trust everything you read. Remember the old term from computer sciences class in college, GIGO, Garbage In Garbage Out.
