When was the last time you heard a Christian walking into a mosque and killing himself along with others? Doesn't happen. We are the civilized society and sometimes we have to set the precedent that no one should mess with us. Why do you think that the Iranians gave back the hostages so quick when Reagan was elected? They knew that he was going to do whatever he had to do to send them a message. Haven't heard from Momar Khadafi lately? We need to show these people that we can't be pushed around. I say let us and the Brits take whomever on anytime. As a great American said "Let's Roll!" |
The grass is always greener on the other side, but it still has to be mowed! |

No matter what our beliefs are, we need to support our troops. Whether its about Oil,U.N. Resolutions,or Revenge, our commitment should be unwavering, because they dont make the decisions. They follow the Orders handed down from our Government. Those who believe the war is wrong have every right to voice their opinion. But PLEASE remember those who gave us those rights. Freedom is not free and the our troops are the ones in harms way today!! there is nothing worse,in the mind of Soldier, than having their Countrymen not supporting the job they were called on to do! The next time you see a person in uniform, thank them for their effort and wish them well in their endeavors. Ill get off the soap box and hope that our Military Leaders have enough sense to use our technology first and our soldiers lives last! |

First, I do not view Islam as a religion. I think it is a cult! And Clayton, I do not view calling a Towel Head or a Rag Head any more insulting than them calling us Infadels!
The difference between Islam & Christianity
Islam is a [religion] that requires fathers to give their sons to die for Allah.
Christianity is a religion where God gave his son to die for us.
Maybe I/we would feel different if the Muslum population in America would stand up and make a definitive statement supporting this country. What would happen to an American who acted in like manner in any of their country[s].

Justin, you should view your comparison quite differently, than you state.
An "infidel", has a definition that has been around since the time of Christ on earth.
An infidel, is a person who does not believe in a religion; which is quite different from an atheist, who is a person who believes that there is no God.
Catholic's during the Holy Wars, used to call every other person of a different faith - an infidel; as did other religious faiths in their crusades over time for domination of the known world.
Today, is not a lot different, the radical Islamics call all Christians, infidels.
Big difference from the insulting terms that you refer to.
Your comparison of an infidel to the insensitive and inflammatory expressions you used, along the lines of Newt's descriptions; to describe the headdress of other cultures, who in fact co-exist in our own homelands - doesn't do anything to advance the cause of people co-existing. |

I don't mince words and I don't put every one of a certain religion in a class of diaper heads, I do how every put all no good scum sucking bottom feeders in the same box. I put all cults in that box if they are for a fact a cult. A cult is one who places his faith in a mortal being. Because he is misled and suffers at the hand of that mortal, not some times but always. I don't give a hoot if no one agrees with me and if you don't thats a your right. We didn't declair war on these cats because we wanted something, they brought it to us.Enough is enough and 9/11 was the clincher as far as I am concerned. I think the Hasballah and Islamic Jihad belong in the same targets. The PLO just blew up another bus of school kids, one American girl was in the group of casualties.
So if it pleases you or any one to defend this trash go ahead. At least I know where you stand. If the Arabs put up with these murders then they are just as guilty. All the cheering that went on after 9/11 should make us wonder who our allies really are. Believe me those dictators have to power to stop those demonstrations. You can rest assured those demonstrations were staged. Those people wouldn't dare put on a demonstration with out the blessing of the leaders. So contadict and call it racist, I have repeated over and over, I have nothing against anyone because of their race or religion, it's how individuals act. I guess I have friends all over the world that I like. Also there is an element of each society that I don't like, even in this country. Its an individual thing, they are thugs and come in all shades and relegions. If I tread on thin ice because of my statements, I'll get a boat.

Let me just reiterate. This is not a holy war on our side. They view it as a holy war. We are talking about a particularly violent, anti-American sect of Islam called Wahabiism. It is a particularly virulent and charasmatic strain of Islam, not very much different in ferosity to the snake handling, cyanide drinking, tongue speaking pentecostals that you'll find deep in the woods of the old south.
These people are completely devoid of reason and rational thought. They have let religion take over their lives and now they are a danger to civilization.
Please don't view this thing as a Christian vs. Muslim thing because that is exactly how they want you to see it. It is western civilization vs. those who wish to destroy it. |

Kile, you will have to keep repeating, and repeating, and repeating - the entirety of your last paragraph.
You are right, but people keep shading and coloring the issue; to suit their own cause.
As I said before, this is the root of the failing public support around the world, for the required armed intervention. |

And Kile, what would the basis of Western Civilization be?
2nd Question: What is the basis of the civilization of those who wish to destroy us?
AND the Wahabi sect is reading from the same Quoran as the rest of Islam in it's entirety. The Quoran states they must either convert or kill infidels..... sorry I cannot give you the exact suran [verse] from the Quoran but it is something like 350.
Manditory prayer 6 times a day....this is the same control used by almost all cults. If you are a Muslum and convert to Christianity it is an automatic death sentence. If you are caught in most Muslum countries with a bible, you are thrown in jail and in some cases executed.

The basis of western civilization is science, logic, reason, philosophy, literature and democracy. Freedom of religion as well as freedom from it. Equality of the sexes and the idea of a colorblind society. We haven't achieved that last one yet but it is the goal.
We need to keep religion out of this mess. Nothing good comes from the clash of religions. |

Kile, you are not getting your message out clear enough, loud enough, or often enough.
I watched and listened to the Big fella at 8.00PM tonight. I don't believe that GW used the word "religion" once in his 50 minutes he was talking, including the Q&A that followed.
It was clear, and he cleverly kept repeating, the reasons are: failure to comply with UN 1441, the threat of terrorism, his obligation to protect your country.
He never mentioned religion. Why do some of you people keep harping over these religious reasons for war?
Aside from Iraq, that tone, will continue to divide the cultures of the world; as it has for centuries.
Regardless of your politics, listen to your leader - he has given you three strong reasons why the disarmament of Iraq is necessary.
Why continue to dilute the cause?
You will never get, the free world will never get - the strong rallying support necessary for the moral strength required, for what is soon to happen; if you don't adopt one of your leader's reasons in support of this conflict. |

Clayton, please reread my post and point out to me where I said religion was a reason to go to war. I made the post regarding religion because we must understand what we are dealing with. There are wide divergences in the two religions along with some very fundamental real crazy ideas. Do yu think the 19 idiots who perpetrated September 11th did so because they were just being good little Arabs. No, their religion [cult] was the single most important factor. You may not like it, but you damn well better understand it. Yes Kile, you are right, religion should not be the reason we go to war and should basically be left out of the conversation. But as a military individual and a Sgt. in the military you know very well when you assess an enemy you take EVERY bit of information into consideration. These are not hyped up gang members from south central, these are very dedicated religious zelots.
Quite frankley Clayton, I find it a little more than disingenious getting advice on how to handle our national affairs from a Canadian that lives in a country that just cant quite get its act together regarding support for the Big Brother to the south that has been protecting it for lo so many years.
I have two Canadian military friends both high ranking officers, who are absolutely apalled at the conduct of your government including your local Mississauga RP who "Hates those American Bastards."
What say you there Nanook of the North? |

Justin, I understand your last post, and your previous post; and I don't think you said religion was a reason to go to war. My comments just happened to follow yours. But others have said that, and I agree, as you have said; ".... religion should not be the reason to go to war and should basically be left out of the conversation".
Just what influence do you think I have with our government and their opinion on this matter? Get realistic, I have no more influence on our government, than you do on yours; except on our respective voting days. The "disingenuious" comment, is a pretty cheap shot.
There are lots of people here, beyond your two Canuck military firends, who are as disgusted with the waffling of our government, and the specific ignorance of the member of parliament you mention. Is that so very different than the lack of strong moral public support, being exhibited in your country; for the direction of your leader on this issue?
Again, all of them, and I, can do no more than you or I - express our distaste and configure it into our next vote.
No point in taking that element of your frustration out on me. I am a peon in the 'system', the same as you. If I misjudged your authority, on our respective domestic measures; share with me the strength you have acquired, and I'll quickly get rich with it up here.
Alternatively, if you would prefer that I abstain from any further comment in this thread, for whatever reason; please advise. |

Clayton, your input is always welcomed and appreciated. I look forward to your posts because you actually put some thought into it and usually it makes sense. I still don't know why you people call ham bacon and end your alphabet with zed, and are always so darned polite, but other than that I pretty much understand everything Canadian.
I have an interesting observation that I would like to get some input on. I had lunch with two friends and dinner with two other friends (supper for all of you in the know). These four people are pretty much my closest friends that I have right now. During both meals we discussed the issues of the day. When is the next hail gonna fall, I can't wait for football season to start, gee that's a pretty girl over there, you know, the usual. But in both conversations we eventually came around to world politics and the Iraq issue. We were all in agreement on the facts and what should be done to remedy the situation. Some called for more remedying than others but it was all in the same vain.
I've noticed this happening before and I'm sure it happens to everyone. We tend to be friends with people who think like we do and agree with our views on life. I have been friends and quite close to people who disagree with me, my mom for example, but the people I interact with on a daily basis by choice, not out of necessity, tend to see things the same way that I do.
Another example of this is, I don't personally know anyone who voted for Bill Clinton. Perhaps that's because most people voted against him. But when you figure he got more than 40% each time, almost half in '96, you'd think there would be one person in my group of friends who voted for him. But to this day I haven't found a single one. Now, keep in mind, most of my friends tend to be 30-40 yr old white males, many are millitary veterans, most drive pick-up trucks, own shotguns and like their dancing partners to be of the opposite sex. Perhaps we are a bit of a demographical subgroup.
What I'd like to know is, how do your friends feel about this Iraq situation. Do you find most people you know are for it, or against it, or do you find a mixture of the two? |

Justin, Clayton has as much right in this thread as you do. Why worry about one silly woman from Ontario, when there are millions in the US who oppose war and dislike Bush. Maybe Canada remembers how fast we came to help them against Hitler. The Great American Ego demands the whole world think, belive and act as we do. It a bog woeld out there and attitudes like yours will unite it against us. |

Mark, actually I am more worried about idiots like you right here in the good old USA. And you are right, Clayton has as much right here as you me or anyone else. Now, please tell me where I said he did not have a right here.
I am getting a little more than sick and tired of idiots like you showing up and making dumb remarks and then slipping back into the shadows when confronted with their remarks.
Thanks for reminding me its a bog woeld out there. Attitudes like yours are the reason we have most of the problems we have at this time. Really Mark, if this country is so bad, why do you stay here?
If you deduct the millions who do not like Bush from the 280 million americans what do you have left?
Duhh a MAJORITY who love and respect him. Which no doubt places you in your proper slot in life, the minority.
