214 claims/24 days = 8.95 claims per day 8 am to 5 pm = 8 hours to work 8 hours/8.95 claims = 53.63 minutes per claim.
I'm working from Coppell to east towards 75. Hail is fairly obvious, but there are roofs with 12 valleys, 7/12 pitch and every freakin' gutter is dented as well as screens and window beads. I have been lucky with no siding losses, so far...
Mr. mShort 68 could you tell me how you do it? How long do you stay up? Do you get 8 hours of sleep a night? Do you have an assistant on the ground? I could sure use the numbers since the first quarter was slow for me. And what is this about your first storm? I thought you had said in past posts that you have been doing cat work for a long time???

Did 4 in Plano today, smallest was 36 sq of 40 yr. One large woodie took 2.5 hours to complete. Lots of damage on siding, windows etc. takes a long time to do it right. Homeowners cooperative, roofers NOT. |

Justin (or others): what are the roofer rates for roofing down in the DFW area for this hail storm? (With a breakdown for tear-off, haul off, etc. if you can) |

On my first storm in Pineville as an independent I averaged 9 a day which wasn't bad. I'll admit that as an independent you slow down a little so you don't miss anything and have to go back. I'm averaging 5 a day, because 6 is too much. I'm east of 289 between Forest, Hillcrest and Campbell. I'm working two story steep by myself. Everything is at least 60 sq's and steep. Paying for almost everything, but not complaining. Go to bed at 10:30 and up at 5:30. I'm spending about an hour inspecting each before I start writing the est in the driveway. Taking about 1:45 per claim. |

Older and Jim don't be jealous that the youngsters are taking over. Your time has come and gone with 3 a day, step aside and let some people get after it. Weather is here, wish you were beautiful. Just an old Buffet tune. |

Reminds me of the joke about the Old Bull and the Young Bull and all the cows out in the pasture.
Ah youth, to be wasted on the young....... :>) |

More power to you if you can do that many, I am making money and staying alive, that makes me happy. Jim, rate seems to be 20 off 75 on for 220. 280's at 90. That all in, no hauling etc. Wood shingles 25 a sq to haul and new decking at .85. Might vary slightly from carrier to carrier. The local FOX channel carried a blurb about this as the worst storm of the decade (in DFW) and urging people to report there claims. Here comes the 2nd wave. |

Hail yes, hows about not talking about old people, I hate old people. And don't bring up hair.
This hail season has got a lot of people out working, thats good, I thought I had made a mistake but maybe huricanes for dummies will come along and I can be a "Hey Boy".
Why is it roofs are getting further off the ground and ladders are getting heavier. Back 12 years ago when I bought mine it was pretty light, now it's about 50 pounds heavier.
Must be having some more hail today, a front moved in here and the temp is about 20 degrees cooler. Doesn't seem to be much moisture in the air, only 65% humi-ditity. Nothing on the maps to indicate that we will get anything here. Two more good hail storms and them good old boys from the country will get caught up on the truck payments. I hope ya'll start complaining about too much work.

The DFW hail storm is going to break LOTS of records for sure. We will all end up there sooner or later. I am working in Jackson, MS on 3000 claim cat that's a result of the same weather that went through Dallas. I am told that when I finish here, I am headed for Texas. See you all there! |

DFW isn't too bad CatDaddy. Just so long as Short doesn't spend any of his $$$ on whats walking all around his motel! Could go home broke and with something that won't wash off. He told me your gonna hafta get a new set of golf clubs before you come to Texas. I'm glad I never got into that game. Hit a ball to chase it and hit it again! George Carlin said it best when he said to pick it up and put it in your pocket! Go home and say you won! I'll stick to catching fish and killing ducks...
PS: Like all those crew cab Dodges the Farm got ya'll to tote them 2 story ladders. Nice!!

Here in Murray, KY we just had our first hail at 5 PM Easter Day. This is our first hail since 1995 and that one was in July.
Based on what I saw where I was at it was not enough to do a great deal of damage so if I was in the hot spot it is nothing to get excited about but I was on the edge of it then there should be some damage.
It started out with thumb nail size hail that was smooth and round but it ended with quarter size that was from flat to round but with many points on it and it was hard.
It did not cover the ground soild before the sun came out but it was the largest hail I have ever witnessed in west KY. We are between Nashville and Paducah but only 40 miles south of Paducah and 40 east of the Miss. River in case there are other reports in west TN,KY,S.IL,E.MO.
