Uhhh, fellow kiddies...has anyone noticed that the raison-de-etre for our lynch mob has not posted in the past few days? It therefore seems we no longer have anyone to lynch, nes pa? All this left over rage should be canned in a Mason jar and put away in the root cellar till the next Bozo comes along.
What has happened is that the clubhouse has democratically risen up to deal with ill mannered behavior. That this was done by the group rather than the moderators is a positive testimony to the moral/ethical integrity of CADO and all who call it 'home'.
This left over bowl of acrimony being stirred now is best put down the garbage disposal and the dishes washed. |

Chuck, I am still waiting. I never did like tabloids, as they make no cursory sense. Now my laviticus is in an uproar, my terstanoble is throbbing, , and my abbadabba doo is on the fritz. Oh what to do. Me thinks I will call ZORO, my greek friend.[}:)][}:)] |

Yes I have been asked to be a moderator. I guess that's why Dadx9 shows up in green. I hope I am allowed to have an opinion also.
Jim, are you acting up to see how far you can go before your comments are removed? I hope not.
I have only recently been asked to assist in reviewing the posts. I will review the agreement and discuss with Roy.
I believe the intent here is to express freely. I also believe the intent is to reasonable concerning items to remove.

Don thanks for at least responding. Good to have you back.
As far as my posts being removed, by not posting further, then neither of us have to worry about posts being removed. (But as far as I am concerned, please remove any your heart desire, I couldn't care less)
(Others, who post in violation of the CADO UA, have nothing to worry about, as far as post removal anyway and they know it. Or as someone once said: the animals are running the zoo)
Clayton feels similar, as well as others, judging from emails received.
We lost. Ignorance won.
Carry on.
Nice circus though.
Cheers! |

Jim,
I have been down this path with you many times in the past. Most of the type comments and user agreement viloations that you are complaining about you have made in the past also. I can recall some comments that you have made to be even worst in nature then the ones I'm currently seeing. I find your comments and the repeated removal of your post to also be disruptive. Another reason visitors may not post to your topics is because they may fear that they will be removed if when you get mad.
We will take action but your demands for action seem unfair because in most cases you have given us less then 12 hours. Many may not know this but we are all adjusters and have jobs. I would like to point out that just because you see us online it does not mean that we are in the forum. |

Roy, you are correct, and I concur, that in the past I have at times been a 'bad boy', and in those instances I was wrong, and you were correct in calmly yet quickly removing any postings which I made which were offensive, disruptive, and non-germane, as you should have done. My words and actions at times were not appropriate, and for those times, I am sorry, and had hoped I could move past those 'labels' by exercising greater patience and tolerance.
You are rightfully the principal here at the CADO school. I am at times both a student and a teacher.
It is rightfully within your power to decide which teachers are allowed to teach here and which students are allowed to learn. It is also the right of teachers and students who don't like students or don't like the teachers, or don't like the lessons, or don't like the school or principal to find another school.
Imagine if you will a different CADO. Not the one we look around and see today.
In that CADO school, an adjuster out on assignment encounters a complex or rare or unusual or complicated claim. Not having access to the information and knowledge and experience he/she needs, he comes to that visionary CADO and finds an educational section where every Inland Marine, every Excess and Surplus Lines, and every commercial form, and every major endorsement has it's own thread, which discuss the 'how to's', the 'what to avoids', the 'what to look out fors', and all the other nuances which are necessary to adjust these losses which most cat adjusters may never encounter.
Now look around at what we have now. Educational threads which cluttered with chastisement, silly insertions of anger management non sequiters, and just general clutter, such that the adjuster who needs the underlying valid and valued information which is the subject topic, must wade through in order to find the vital 'stuff' which has been buried deep down under or hidden between the 'junk.'
Yes Roy, I have at times removed my postings, because I did not want my time researched and valid information assciated nor tainted by the junk.
And if and when you and CADO decide that type of classroom is worth pursuing, worth valuing, and worth protecting by providing the support to protect the serious student and teacher of advanced insurance topics, please let us know, and some of us will be happy to once again post and share our hard earned knowledge.
It's your school Roy. You're the principal. You make the rules. But when a large numbers of good students and teachers are leaving to go elsehwere, to find what is missing here, then something is wrong, and it needs fixing.
It needs fixing not for me. And not for you. But for those who want to learn. |

I would add a couple of thoughts:
The 'problems' you see now are/were not the product of overnight posts nor of disruptions of a mere few days, but have been brewing for a greater period of several weeks now, and I am thankful that you have now joined in the dialogue.
My words of late have not been born of anger, but frustration, yet emanate from genuine concern, caring, courage and the constructive hope that necessary changes which enhance rather than take away from CADO can and will be implemented.
As Clayton has so wisely tried to convey even unto the unhearing voices, catastrophe adjusting is changing, and as such, CADO and cat adjusters, must change to meet these new frontiers or else be left behind.
We no longer live in a world of only hail claims, nor can we survive on the infrequent hurricane or windstorm, but must identify and master those new avenues of need and interest, or we will merely be mastered by the past.
I can think of no more important debate, or dialogue or discussion than the present one: the directions we take as individuals and the directions for the new future for CADO. To keep our heads in the sands, will not take either into the exciting future ahead for those not afraid to let go of the past. |

Jim,
I would concur, our world is changing. Those of us who have frequented CADO over the past 5 years certainly realize this. When I first came aboard, I was mentored by some who are still here and many who only visit from time to time. I have their fingerprints all over me.I have benefited from my exposure here.
Having now been on both sides of the fence (Cat and Staff adjuster), I realize there are a lot of misconceptions of who we and they are. Most adjusters I know try their very best to represent the company (in our case the client) and the Insured according to the written policy. But the times they area changin'. The bottom line (bean counters) are running the show. And they don't know where to place our expenses. I hope we can all pull together and help each other. CADO must survive for the all our sakes. I have come back to reading and posting because I can't help but be an adjuster. I've considered other options recently and realize this is what I do best. There are those who wish to see us fail. By in large we have given them all the ammunition they have needed. I for one am willing to invest myself and allow others to invest in me.
I hope to see you here for a long time to come.

Don, I like the attitude expressed in the words of your last post. It is important that we as a community, all pull together and help each other. CADO should be and can be, the medium through which we help each other; it is not at this point in time. I am also pleased to see Roy finally speak affirmatively - with the addition of his 2nd paragraph in his 2/4 post - that he will take action.
The events on this site for the last 2 weeks, with back to back disruptions, have been silly, unnecessary, and counter productive to the positive thoughts you brought forward in your last post.
Jim's analogy of the 'school', with the students and teachers being interchangeable, and the principal; is quite a valid picture. Perhaps it is unfortunate that we have to illustrate our adult community in that light; but it does seem to have proven to be necessary.
I'm hoping that Roy will quickly clear the air and reaffirm the goals and guidelines of this site; and further, state the consequences when those goals and guidelines are purposely breached. In addition, 'to patrol the halls and classrooms', I hope additional moderators are found, and that they have immediate and sufficient authority to halt any repeat occurrence; before it can escalate into an incident like we have been faced with twice in the last short while.
I look forward to Roy coming forward with his comments in this regard. |

Consider we have a one room school house, I-1 thru I-12 and then you have the school of higher learning, I am somewhere around Idiot 3rd grade. Of course I am kidding, but serious about the disruptions. We can't have a disruption without effecting a lot of readers, students and pros. Up and down the line. In reality we are all students if we are worth our salt. Clayton made a wise statement the other day, "I learn something new every day".(or to that effect) These people who invest time in educating deserve credit for their effort.

This is just a suggestion, since Jim and Clayton are usually conducting these classes why not give them the power to eleminate these disruptions before the get out of hand. It would mean they could remove subjects that started name calling and chaos. |

Don, I would like to echo Clayton's astute comments in praise of the warm caring tone of your post.
For those who do not yet 'know' you, they and we are indeed blessed to have you back among the flock. I'll never forget the most wonderful chat you and I shared one night over dinner in Downers Grove.
While many here also have their fingerprints on whatever knowledge and abilities I have, no one here has had the same impact as you in sharing the more important messages which you shared with me that evening. And in days of despair and trials, your words shared that night and the path you outlined, have been my great friends in the sometime lonely and often times arduous travels we all experience at one time or another as we traverse along life's bumpy roads.
Thanks for your words, thanks for your wisdom, and more importantly, thanks for your wonderful friendship.
May God continue to richly bless you my Friend!
And Don, when I wander off the straight and narrow path, please know that you are welcome to steer me back with either words or a big stick! |

Jim,
Thanks for the kind words. I too remember our Downers Grove Summit. You have much to offer. I am looking forward to the days when we all are in the Adjusters Old Folks Home. The stories will of course get better with time. I can only hope that you and I leave whatever we have to offer to the next generation of Cat Adjusters. (I'm not prepared to turn over the reins just yet). Let us move on to greater things. Rest up my friend. Get ready to expend your energies doing what we all do best. Adjust claims (not rocket sceince), but all we can do becuase it is what we do best. Let's be the best, and we will profit from our hard work. Our customers deserve our best. Our families deserve our best. And we deserve our best. Take care physically and emotionally and "Seize the Day" (it's all we have).
