I hope the deafing silence in here since Isaac hit means most are  on there way to or already working. For those who are go luck and stay safe.  I wish I with you.

Waiting for word, wrapping claims up in St. Louis. Heading south tomorrow evening. My first hurricane.

Why are you sitting this one out?

I was called just to to be told that I was no longer on stand by two companies! They said they was not going to have the volume of claims they thought they was. So I guess its back to selling roofs for now.

It would be a disservice to the flooded resisdents, those still without power, and/or anyone still displaced to call this a dud. But it appears that this is not a large volume impact event from the standpoint of wind damage. The TPA's made a lot of requests and demands requiring orientations, I guess they have no choice, not sure if they are still happening or not.

Defination of large can be confusing. Any multi billion dollar is large, but vendors have been know to over staff. In OKC in 1999 the farm brought out so many adjusters most received about 20 small claims. If every one was put on standby then lots will be disappointed. The flood guys will do well again. I have an assignment that is ongoing, work is good but there is an excitment working a hurricane and always some interesting challenges.

I spoke with the deployment dept yesterday of the firm I have deployed with for 12 years and was basically told the same thing. "Claim volume is not what they had expected, claims just trickling in, not deploying any adjuster at this time" what a huge disappointment to say the least. I was plenty upset as I was placed on standby over 2 weeks ago and while waiting to rollout for the company I am loyal to I passed up deployment with 2 other firms! I will not get caught like this again from now on the first company to "roll me" is the one who gets my services! Obviously my company of first choice doesnt take standby as seriously as the adjusters do! A phone call to stand down would have been very helpful.

Some of us are still working in-house commercial losses where I hole up (because of summer hail, atlantic/midwest windstorms, etc), but Isaac did not produce a lot of activity so far.  The I-man landed too far west (NOLA)....too many flood/wind/named storm exclusions or high deductibles in force to produce reporting of claims.

In echoing HuskerCat's post about large deductibles, I got ten claims with my smallest deductible at $100K. The losses still need to be inspected which is fine for me since its billing is on a T&E basis regardless of loss size.

Commercial flood is not too big unless you work municipality or State ORM losses. The major flood losses are mostly in Plaquemines Parish which has minimal commercial infrastructure outside of government owned business.

FARA/York has the contract with the State of Louisiana to handle losses on property belonging to the State. This is under the State's Self Insured Retention. Sweet, a flood vendor, from Oklahoma, handled the NFIP claims on insured, State owned property after Hurricane Gustav and Ike. Bankers was the WYO company.

I have to say that after reading your statement, it is not really a surprise that you did not get deployed. Bad grammar aside (though the argument could be made that that may have also been a deciding factor), nobody really wants a self admitted non-professional who will likely be slinging shingle by the end of the season.

Remember, a license makes it legal, but it does not necessarily make it right.

Gotta love it!! AA, I must agree! If I received a narrative that stated,"the insured told me they is going to email me they's contents list. I be waiting for that befo I do anything else," uhm, I am a fixen to kick back that report!
