Hurricane Douglas may impact the Hawaiian Islands 3016 0
Started by host
Based on the latest reports and the current track it looks like Hurricane Douglas may impact the Hawaiian Islands. Have you had an assignment on the Islands I have and there are some things to take into consideration related to expenses, for example your ladder, vehicle and lodging. You cannot carry your ladder or drive your vehicle to the assignment and a lot of lodging was expensive. And I’m sure that the current pandemic will have some impact as well. &nbs...

Another hurricane season passing us by? 3676 1
Started by olderthendirt
A zone of death is keeping the CV storms from crossing the Atlantic in one piece. With a record El Nina this is unlikely to change. So unless we get a home grown storm from the Gulf or off Mexico, could be a long season for those waiting for work. Is globel warming protecting the US east and gulf coasts

2014 Hurricane Season 6906 12
Started by host
From Tyler Stanfield's WunderBlog
'Overview of the 2014 Season
With the increasing odds of an El Nino event developing by the peak of the 2014 hurricane season, unfavorable conditions will likely plague the storms of the Atlantic basin from start to finish. This will cause a limited amount of hurricanes and major hurricanes to develop during the season and decrease the likelihood of a hurricane landfall. Along with the anticipation of a quieter, below average season, the overall lack of abov...

2013 Hurricane Season - Will we have a Cane? 6998 19
Started by host
So far we have not had any hurricanes, the media is stating that the 2013 season could set a new record for the latest season to have a hurricane form. In recent history the latest first hurricane to form was Gustav in 2002 which became a hurricane on 9/11/2002.

Question about wildfire claim 5445 6
Started by QuitMyDayJob
Hi everyone,
I am relatively new to the field--starting my 'second career'--and I am assisting with my first wildfire claim. The homeowners live about 100 feet from a substantial burn area (forest and houses) and are claiming window damage. I have been assigned as the researcher to gather information as to whether or not such damage can result to windows from radiant heat of a wildfire. They are claiming blown seals, warping, and discoloration of the vinyl. Any suggestions on research...

Sandy - NHC debating removing name for deductible purposes 5374 8
Started by Torrential
Here's a video conversation that occurred on the Weather Channel recently, between Brian Norcross and Jim Cantore.
They raise some interesting questions, that could have far reaching legal implications for deductibles related to damage from hurricane Sandy. Some policies specify a 'named storm' deductible. However, if the storm becomes subtropical before landfall, it technically loses its hurricane name, or perhaps should.
It will make a big difference to many folks.
If anyone has...

Hurricane Sandy 7817 24
Started by stormcrow
At this time a rapidly strengthening hurricane is going to cross Jamaica, Cuba and the Bahamas. But what then. Some modleing is suggesting a sub tropical blow to the NE with widespread 60 to 70 mph winds heavy rain and or snow. If this developes could see a billion dollar storm (ref: Dr. Jeff Masters), or it could go out to sea. Something to watch the weekend.

Would anyone like to explain to me and the rest of the country (ummm, maybe the 47 that Romney referred to) why Obama has suddenly granted federal aid for the rain that fell in a few Florida counties during Isaac See the home page for the newspaper articles, and then read the comments posted.
I've always kept my mouth shut when it comes to politics and religion because I don't know enough about either to carry on a debate. But it's hard not to have a crease in your brow when some...

So, it's 2012, and the end of the world according to some. According to an article in Wednesday's PropertyCasualty360 Daily eNews, there are companies actually selling Zombie Apocalypse insurance. Companies like My Zombie Insurance and Zaico offer lifetime policies that cover your home, your car, and even your life for as little as $9.99. Sound like a joke The really funny part is that there have been actual claims filed. A quote from the article:

&160;Quote from 3/14/11 article on WWL;
Louisiana Climatologist Barry Keim says there's been a La Niña in place for about a year now and it's expected to disappear before the start of hurricane season.
'Now this is particularly good news for Louisiana with regard to the 2011 hurricane season,' said Keim. 'We get more hurricane in La Niñas and fewer when conditions are neutral or in an El Niño, which is the opposite of a La Niña.'
