    Got an odd problem trying to load 27 onto a laptop with XP.

    Figured if anyone else could resolve (had seen) the problem, it would be here.

    In a nutshell, 27 loaded into one laptop and was running in about 3 hours flat.

    The second laptop;    has had Three different techie (from xmate's end) across 4 days/3hrs per session try to get it to load & do the 'handshake'. No handshake. Two 'guru's at this end have looked it over and have no solution to the 'No handshake' event.

    The last techie guessed that the issue is in IE but that firewall is definitely off.

    OneCare has been run. Clean 'puter.  Malwarebits-antimalware is on the system. Clean 'puter.

    X24 was on this one once upon a time (yes, older laptop) and appears to be all gone.

    Has anyone seen/heard of this problem? Can xmate communicate via Foxfire or does it have to be IE?

    Hello my friend,

    I have just spent a week in downtown Dallas for the Crawford Cat conference( they put on a good show folks). Anyway there was multiple free 8 hour courses in XM8 and XM8 Sketch. Those interested in the classes were instructed to show up the Sunday before the conference began to load the newest Crawford version of XM8 27. I did that and had downloaded X27 within 15 minutes.It was so easy because of the W7 OS. XM8 27 was designed specifically to operate using W7. Everyone running W7 had minimal to no issues downloading XM8 27.

    Those adjusters running Vista and XP were having mass problems, even the onsite IT techs from Crawford were unable to load them properly and they had three IT techs on the phone with XM8 IT techs to deal with all the issues.Yes you CAN run XM8 through Firefox.

    Either upgrade to W7 or just grab a new laptop with W7 pre-installed(Laptops with 4GB and 320 gb at BestBuy around 400.00).

    Your life will get much easier once you do that.  

    I had purchased an additional laptop for the occasion because I already have an active version of X27 on another laptop and you can't have two versions at the same time. The additional laptop was worth the extra 400.00(Bestbuy)because the Crawford version of X27 is NOT a demo, it is an active version and stays active from 6 months to a year.I am keeping the Crawford'a version of X27 on the new laptop because Crawford's version is a touch different from the 27.3 and can NOT be used to estimate for another IA firm, yet is a great way to keep your X27 chops up.
