1 Replies and 4183 Views Printer Anywhere (Beta) Free Download  4183  1 Started by  frank1 PrinterAnywhere has just come out with a no-brainer of a product that I think will turn out to be quite useful, and best of all, it’s free! PrinterAnywhere lets you share your printer with someone else, or vice versa across the internet! Instead of sending someone an attachment of a contract, just print it directly to their printer. You won’t have to worry about people not being able to open files that you send them, all you’ve got to do is set the connection up (takes less tha...

9 Replies and 5583 Views Computerized Estimating - Part 2  5583  9 Started by  Gale Hawkins While the tread got off to a meaningful beginning I missed what when wrong but having two lawyer types with strong personalities like ebrooks and kevin made for risky business.   I do not remember all of the great points that ebrooks had made so he or others may have made the following point. Pricing books like RS Means, Craftsman, Bluebook, etc or estimating software pricing data bases are not permitted as valid in a court room because they are hearsay nor can they be crossed examined. T...

1 Replies and 4332 Views Computerized Estimating Part 1  4332  1 Started by  host I believe most people would agree, remember the Isabel Hot Potato thread, the price list was a part of this debate. In another post John Postava stated; 'In my day (early 80's) adjuster's calculated a fair price for the work to be done and then 'adjusted' (i.e. negotiated) the estimate with the contractor doing the work and the specific situation surrounding the loss. Today it seems all adjusters want to do is have a cost database in their computers that pays enough claims dollars that no one...

8 Replies and 5177 Views Post Removed  5177  8 Started by  host  I have temporary removed this thread. I will restore it later.   One policy I have 'is no name calling'.  Calling someone a name will be grounds for temporary or full removal of posting rights. There ways to disagree and to get your point across without the name calling and insults. People please respect other users.  In some cases people make accusations about users that they do not even know and are totally unfounded.

1 Replies and 4839 Views Grain bins/silos  4839  1 Started by  Tom Toll As the previous thread was locked, I felt this was a subject of interest and am continuing it, without insulting anyone. I am not an expert in grain bin/silo construction, but having been a farmer during my childhood and having worked on them, I feel I do know something about them. Gale and Josh, there are numerous types of grain bins/silos. The most popular at this time is the corrugated galvenized units, due to  manufactured pieces and simplicity of erection. This type of unit can be ...

13 Replies and 5859 Views Searching for Mr. Goodprogram  5859  13 Started by  ebrooks Estimating programs (I know, they do more than estimate, and that is another side of things, the program needs to have good administrative features)--but pretending for sake of economy of discussion that we are looking for an estimating program, which essentially it what it is: I’ve used Xactimate and Simsol. Looked briefly at the other major players. Question is: Which program is the keeper My tentative approach: 1. Eliminate the ones that want you to e mail your work product to them or ke...
