Jury awards $11.3M over defamatory Internet posts
Posted 10/10/2006 10:07 PM ET
A Florida woman has been awarded $11.3 million in a defamation lawsuit against a Louisiana woman who posted messages on the Internet accusing her of being a 'crook,' a 'con artist' and a 'fraud.'
Legal analysts say the Sept. 19 award by a jury in Broward County, Fla. — first reported Friday by the Daily Business Review — represe...

Are You Still Working Wind and Hail Claims in Indianapolis
If you are, and you're tired of eating alone or would like to meet some other catadjusters, why not join us on this Wednesday, October 18, for an adjusters dinner at Joe's Crab Shack I know this is short notice, but if this one is successful we may do this some more.
This is my wife Jennifer's idea. We plan to meet in the lobby of the Extended StayAmerica at 7940 North Shadeland Avenue, Indianapolis, at 7:00 PM and procee...

VOTE!!!!! 3274 2
Started by CATdawg
I sincerely hope that every visitor to CADO votes today. The universal right to vote defines our country, and countless individuals have sacrificed their lives and well-being so that we may exercise this most basic tenet of democracy. It saddens and disturbs me that in the last gubernatorial election here in Texas, 71 of registered voters decided that other concerns were more important than casting a ballot.
Voting is our most basic right as Americans and our most important respo...

CALIFORNIANS have seen the difference between having a consumer watchdog (John Garamendi) and an industry lapdog (Chuck Quackenbush) as insurance commissioner.
The most basic requirement for this elected position should be integrity and a demonstrable independence from the $115 billion industry the commissioner is charged with regulating….

Hey everyone! Probably sometime along about Wed 10/25 or Thursday 10/26, we will have an adjuster get-together here in Houston out along the Gulf Freeway (I-45) down south towards Clear Lake. (One of those nights 'cause the wife will be off down in Cancun on a friend's birthday trip with NO husbands!) If you are in the area and would be interested in joining us, drop me a note to khromasaol.com so we can get a rough number. Will follow up with details as Paige and I get them fig...

Humans living far beyond planet's means: WWF 3308 7
Started by PORTASATGUY
BEIJING (Reuters) - Humans are stripping nature at an unprecedented rate and will need two planets' worth of natural resources every year by 2050 on current trends, the WWF conservation group said on Tuesday.
Populations of many species, from fish to mammals, had fallen by about a third from 1970 to 2003 largely because of human threats such as pollution, clearing of forests and overfishing, the group also said in a two-yearly report.
'For more than 20 years we have exceeded the earth's abili...

Could someone clarify for me what was so out of control about the old forums. I appreciate all that goes into making this site run and I am sure it is work. If the need to revise the forums was due to the site needing a facelift then great. Change is always good and with change usually brings improvement.
However if the reason for the change was because of the subject matter of the old forums I just do not see it. We are all adults with different backgrounds and vast differences in opinion. I b...

NAPICA 3998 2

In another thread, Roy had asked for an update on NAPICA - National Association of Professional Insurance Claims Adjusters (R).
The main impetus behind the formation of that organization was to have and provide access to affordable Health Insurance for cat adjusters. As independent contractors, health insurance at affordable rates is always a problem. The major plans that were possible would all require a minimum of 1000 participants to be able to get the best rates.
After working ...

While without question we need to act responsible toward the environment we may be giving man a little too much credit in his ability to de...

Aviation Accidents 3567 10

It has been a while since I was an aviation adjuster, but I still know how an airplane flies and what happens if an aircraft fails. The accident in Manhattan this morning was a small aircraft accident, not related to any terroristic problem, in my opinion. It appears the pilot was attempting to make a tight right turn and was in distress. No witnesses have been found at this time to determine if he was under full power or whether he had lost power. Several scenarios could have occurred, pilot su...

BOUDREAUX,
THE GI INSURANCE RECRUITER
Boudreaux, the smoothest-talking Cajun in the Louisiana National Guard, got called up to active duty one day. Boudreaux's first assignment was to a military induction center, and because he was a good talker, they assigned him the duty of advising new recruits about government benefits, especially the GI insurance to which they were entitled. Before long, the Captain in charge of th induction center began noticing that Boudreaux was getting a 99...
