Hi Everyone,  I just completed my Texas Pre-Licensing, Xactimate and Basic Adjusting Class.  My question pertains to the criminal background check for the TDI.  I used to live in Texas and had my background for Texas done while I was in Dallas.  I now live in Colorado and had my fingerprints done locally at the Sheriffs office, but they didn't do background checks.  The TDI application says to send $34.95 and they do the background check.  If I do this who do I make the check out to (TDI),  also would I get a copy?  It seems most of the independent adjusting companies require the background check and I would like to be able to have my own copy to give to them.  Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.  Greenhorn in Colorado.  Thanks,  JC

Most likely other IA firms will not accept your background check. They will want to perform their own check. The TDI will most likely have a Law Enforcement Agency perform the check using TCIC and NCIC. They will not provide you with a copy and the public does not have access to these tools.
I would suggest that TDI wants the check cut with their name however they would be the best source for answering this question.

Thank you Sir, I will cut the TDI a check and mail it immediately.  Sincerly, John
