The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reasons for remaining ashore. Our profession is similar. We go when we have to and we work sometimes in horrible conditions, but we are vigilant in our desire to help others. Adjusters are just a group of people who are terribly misunderstood. Most people do not realize what we have to go through and how many hours we have to work to comply with state insurance law, but we know, don't we.

Yesterday is not ours to recover, but tomorrow is ours to win or to lose. If your knowledge and attitude are set right, you will win. I don't like losing and am sure you don't either.

At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person.
Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.

Don't be afraid to give your best to what seemingly are small jobs.  Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger.  If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves. That is perseverance, something we all must conquer.

We can throw stones, complain about them, stumble on them, climb over them,

or build with them.

Faith and doubt both are needed, not as antagonists, but working side by side to take us around the unknown curves of life.

If you want happiness for an hour - take a nap.
If you want happiness for a day - go fishing.
If you want happiness for a month - get married.
If you want happiness for a year - inherit a fortune.
If you want happiness for a lifetime - help someone else.
If you want to earn more money, gather as much knowledge as you can.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

I believe that we live in a sick country and the infection is greed and an unappeasable craving to benefit ourselves, known as the me first syndrome. There have been countless studies associated with the power of contribution and how it can eliminate depression, emptiness, and lack of self worth. It is important to realize that money is not the only contribution, and in my opinion, it should be the last. Giving and helping others has deep rewards, but few try it.

People yearn to experience what love is all about, and this is not necessarily intimacy, but rather knowing that someone will be in their life and guide them on their journey. We live in a world where children are growing up and never experiencing a hug, where teenagers lack mentors, and adults make poor choices for relationships. These people need our help, and what they need has nothing to do with money, and everything to do with an ear to listen and a shoulder to cry on.

If your an adjuster just for the sake of the so called, big money, your in this field for the wrong reason. Yep, money is important so we can thrive and take care of our families, but sometimes too much emphasis is given to ME, ME, Me, making a lot of money and not enough emphasis given to , how can I help someone.

Love and kindness are never wasted.  They always make a difference.  They bless the one who receives them, and they bless you, the giver. If a hurricane event occurs in actuality in the next few days, remember to share your kindness to fellow adjusters, your claims staff, and most certainly, the insured.

Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day. Take advantage of the small ones, they will be remembered.

It doesn't take a hero to order men into battle. It takes a hero to be one of those men who goes into battle.

General Norman Schwarzkopf

Does this not apply to all of our lives, regardless of our occupations. Life does not sit around waiting to be taken, you must take action yourself and make life work for you.

We must believe that problems do have answers, that they can be overcome, and that we can solve them. If you can do that, you are closer to becoming a complete person.

Go out and make a difference in your community.
You don't need endless time and perfect conditions.
Do it now.  Do it today.
Do it for twenty minutes and watch your heart start beating.
It feels so good helping others.

Don't let life discourage you;

The measure of a man is not, "How did he die?" but "How did he live?"
not "What did he gain?" but "What did he give?"
Several adjuster friends of mine gave and gave.
I will remember them as long as I remain among the living.

If a dog was your teacher, you would learn stuff like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Let others know when they've invaded your territory.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On hot days, drink lots of water, and lie under a shady tree.
When you're happy, dance around, and wag your entire body.
Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm. Stop when you have had enough.
Be loyal. Never pretend to be something you're not.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
When you are having a bad day, lick your b_ _ _ _.

Unselfish and noble actions are the most brilliant pages in your biography of history. You will be remembered for your kindness, charm, helpfulness, and charity. There are several adjuster's who have died that will always be in my heart and mind. Do you want to be remembered, or do you wish to become a lost soul.

He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.
