Greg DeTray from distgage.com here, just wanted to let everybody know that the new Disto A6 laser measuring device includes software that allows the A6 to transfer the measurements directly into ANY Windows software. Xactware, Simsol, Symbility and Powerclaim all work great. Integriclaim is also working, but requires a special version of the disto transfer software. Distagage.com worked with Leica, and they wrote a special version of the Disto transfer software that exports the measurements in separate fields for feet and inches, so with this software, (version 1.2) Integriclaim is also working. The software will also work with the Disto Plus, so if you have a Disto Plus, email me and I'll send you the software. The Disto transfers the measurements via bluetooth, which has a range of about 30 feet, and requires that the computer or PDA have bluetooth capabilities. (You can get USB bluetooth adapters at Office Depot, Best Buy, etc for about $30) The Disto will only transfer one measurement at a time. So you really need to have a tablet PC or PDA that you carry into the risk with you. This isn't going to be very useful for roof claims, but if you have a loss where you are entering dimensions for every room in the house, I think it will be great. When I've tried to carry my tablet into big flood losses to do my scope, my biggest problem was entering the dimensions, (basically on a tablet you type with the stylus pen on an image of a keypad, so it's like being limited to typing with one finger). The bluetooth Disto will take care of that problem. I am working on getting directions/instructions/manuals put together for the using the Disto with each of the software programs. As I get them completed, I'll post them on www.distagage.com. Xactware has added voice recognition capability to their newest version, and with a bluetooth headset, you are able to add rooms, take the measurements with the Disto, and enter the measured values without touching the keyboard. Symbility has also written special code that gives the users more control over the Disto, reducing the effort required to enter the measurements into the system. Simsol and PowerClaim have both tested the A6 with their software, and the standard Disto Transfer software works with both systems. I've got plenty of the New Disto A6 units in stock, and have a few of the Disto Plus units that have been marked down. You can check them out at www.distagage.com, or send me an email, greg@distagage.com.
