I'm trying to compile a list of about 20 vendors to send resume/cover letter to.
I don't want to waste my time with problem companies. So, I'm looking for the input from you seasoned folks.
I'm afraid my assignment here where I'm at is nearing an end.
I'll take a month off and then be ready to work anywhere on any type of claim.
Obviously, I will ask my current vendor if they have anything for me but, if they don't, I want to be ready.

I would like to know what vendor you are working for that has kept you on assignment until now?

Just a thought.... I would strongly consider staying put...times are pretty slow out here ..and no work currently on the radar. ..or...see if your boss needs someone to take your place. Plenty of folks would gladly send him their names.

Hi Dop, Are you working Rita?  We just left about 2 to 3 weeks ago, and as far as I know thats about the only game in town.  The recent storms in the midwest were not severe enough for outside help.  I know 2 people that have worked some sewer back up in the New Jersey area.  Good luck, but it looks like at for as Cat work, we may be waiting for some "Hail"aious storms.

Catwoman-
I'm working clean-up in Irving on both Rita and Katrina.

Wes-
Thank you for the list. I called NADO and I'm starting next week.

Doppler,
Are you serious about working for NADO? Anyway one great company that was missed in the list above is Walker Group out of Fairfieled iowa.
Good luck!

Yeah...about as serious as Wes was when he listed them.....I forgot all about the Walker Group. Thank you...
If I've learned nothing else from this site. I definately would not work for NADO.

The CADO rate the employer section is a good place to start.

Dopp:

I tried to e-mail you regarding additional vendors, but it came back undeliverable. Do you have another address?

Thanks.

Dopp,
I've also contemplated taking some time off but I've decided to stick it out for the long term. I'm getting an even mix of new claims, supplementals and corrections.
If you need a break, maybe you can take some time off and come back to your clean-up position?  It can't hurt to ask, especially since you must be doing a good job to still be around.

Now, that's funny. You know what will happen if you ask for time off at a storm center. "Here's your hat...what's your hurry."

On a related topic, who would you consider the top 10 flood vendors.

Getting tired of climbing roofs, are you Dirt?

Are you ready to trade the ladder for a pair of waders?

Brentyoung,

I would respectfully take exception to your quote. I've taken time off several times during the past year.  In the past as a claims director, I would rather have had an adjuster ask me for time off rather than disappear without notice for a week.  Of course, I don't know Dopp's exact situation, but he may be able to take a break and return.  Realizing of course, that means taking his blackberry, checking voice mail twice a day, and putting out fires, etc.

This gig has been awesome but, the claims themselves are drying up. There are too many adjusters out there to fill my shoes. So, I can't ask for time off and expect to come back. I am taking 3 days in a row off (including tomorrow) but not for R and R. I have been nervous everytime I ask for an extended weekend because of the situation Mr. Young was eluding to. Don't  get me wrong, I very much appreciate the opportunity I have been given but, I've only had 3 - 4 long weekends since early September 05. I'm tired.
As for recommending someone to take my place, I would in a heartbeat but, they are downsizing at this time.

Cut straight to the chase. The temp. employee vendors pay ever two weeks, plus other perks. Never work for a vendor that does not pay on closed/approved files turned in by cutoff date on a REGULAR basis, unless you can not work for the above type of vendors.

New people have to work for other types, but many risk involved.
