Miami, Florida (AP) — State authorities say two insurance adjusters have been arrested for allegedly defrauding insurance companies out of more than 400-thousand dollars following the storms of 2004 and 2005.

Jose Manuel Soler and Ariel Fernandez of Coast to Coast Public Adjusters were each charged with 104 counts of third degree insurance fraud, 104 counts of third degree grand theft as well as one count of first degree organized scheme to defraud.

The pair allegedly submitted 75 forged contractor agreements to Citizens Insurance, resulting in an overpayment of more than 300-thousand dollars. Another 29 documents were submitted to the Tower Hill Group, resulting in more than 125-thousand dollars.

Something like this could give Public Adjusters a bad name!

This happened to me in Miami last year, I refused to accept the fake estimate. This could give the adjusters who accepted these false claims a bad name.

Don't you think the heading on this should read
“PUBLIC ADJUSTER takes payments”...instead of Insurance Adjuster takes payments?

This Bad Publicity is always the news and makes good adjusters seem bad to the public.

Insurance adjusters were not caught. Public adjusters were caught. They need to get it right.

I believe that insurance adjuster is good enough. It only takes 40 hours of training to become a FL adjuster but 200 hours of training to become a FL Insurance agent.

If agents have to have 200 hours of training why don't they know how to read a policy?

I became a Public Adjuster after an Insurance Adjuster violated my home and the policy as well.

all i have to say on this issue that in every business there is good and bad. there are bad doctors, bad mothers and bad fathers. not all public insurance adjusters are bad, nor doctors or mothers and fathers. look at whats going on in the world now with forclosures, all those bad mortgage brokers that told those homeowners that they could afford certain homes and ripped them off< even set them up with the cheapest insurance policy under the mtg without informing them, but just to get the deal passed asap. all i have to say is focus on more important stuff, public adjusters r out there to help people. and like i said remember in all buis ther are good and bad.
