as we head into Texas Gulf Coast, Indoubtedly TWIA (Texas Windstorm Insurance Association) www.twia.org Policies will be in effect in most all counties these policies service.

STANDARD HO POLICIES in most coastal communities have an Exclusion for Wind/Hail & Flood, HOWEVER Many Insureds will turn in Claim to their HO Carrier. When In fact they should have filed claims with The TWIA, OR NFIP (National Flood insurance Program) http://www.fema.gov/business/nfip/ BEWARE OF THIS ...... READ AND KNOW The Policies. This is often Missed at the Initial First Notice of Loss Filed by the Insured's.

Most adjusters will catch this at initial contact with Insured's. Please know the Claim filing phone numbers & Website to Both TWIA & NFIP, to pass the insured's to the appropriate Carrier.

I am Posting this as this is always a common mistake during times of mega catastrophe's, such as IKE seems.

Take Time to Check out the Websites of Both, and know the counties Effected by TWIA and the Floodzones of the NFIP. As These areas will absolutely be effected.

PLEASE REMEBER  that ALE is only payable at evactuation if it was a MANDATORY EVACUATION, or of course if the damages warrant it, post event.

Hope this helps. Be safe, practice moral, empathy and sympathy, and Best claim practices. Lets Make this Storm a better one for Insured's, Carriers, our Employers, and Us.

On the ALE issue, some carriers may voluntarily offer limited evacuation expenses to insureds even if the policy doesn't call for it. Know what your carrier that you are working for is doing on this issue.
