Hey guys. If you are anything like me you are bored sitting at home waiting for the next big storm. I live in central Florida and may be recieving a contract to inspect up to 10,000 homes this year. I will be needing some help from some experienced adjusters. If you are interested in some work send me an email. If I do receive the contract that is.. It would be easier if you lived here in Florida but its not required. I know many adjusters don't mind travelling for some work. I would like to line up 40-50 adjusters available and include that in my bid.

Interesting this would come up today. Someone had just emailed me information on this program yesterday. You can click on the attendee list of those bidding for these inspections and I see Crawford is also listed as an attendee.
When are they making the announcements who will get them?

March 28th is the expected award date. I am one of the eligible parties bidding to participate in this program. Hopefully some work will come to adjusters from this. During the pilot program inexperienced people were brought in off the street to do these inspections. An experienced adjuster can easily handle 10+ inspections per day with out sacrificing quality of work. Unfortunately I am a small company compared to some of the huge govt. contractors also bidding for this work. Fortunately they will award 10 contracts and there are less than 30 companies eligible. |

By the way, when you email me please attach a resume if you can. Thanks for all the feedback so far. I am also in need of a good IT guy in the Orlando area, or an adjuster with a good IT resume as well as some adjusting experience. |

I hope you get the bid. I did this once for a person of interest in Florida and was paid $12 per house. Had to measure count the bathrooms and take at least two photos and at that time they were hard copy photos! I drove many miles between the risks and well into this I decided somone was making money but sure wasn't me! Good luck, I hope they pay a little more and the risk inspections can be up loaded via electronic device and not a paper file. |

Well for $12 an inspection it would be hard to get out of bed.
I intend to pay ALOT more than that. The standard I have heard has been $50-$60 but I feel that is still low. I intend to pay more than that also. The system is all digital, and the state has written software for a PC and a hand held device. The state is paying out a total of $150. |

Chris, I do hope you are able to wade through all the bureaucratic baloney and are able to get the contract, if so, I and my wife will jump in for you. Sounds like you are going to treat your crew respectfully. |

Mike, It means that: 1) I wish Chris well and much success...2) If he gets the contract, remember that his fellow adjusters will make or break him , so be nice.... and 3) The David vs. Goliath reference is correct as there are some heavy hitters trying for the contract....
Okay?

I was a little slow as I hadn't yet had my 2nd cup of coffee, but the next post re: David vs Goliath sunk in.

Thank you for the support. Bid package just passed the 100 page mark. I'm not sure if I should celebrate or not. Sure would be rough if I do all this work and not make the cut.
Today I am writing in detail my Quality Assurance Program and collecting reference letters from those I have worked with / for. Another fun filled day !

All done. Proposal looks great. I am feeling pretty confident. Tons of emails to be answered regarding opportunity. I offered to put 200+ adjusters to work this year if the state will let me. I know we could use it. Now ill spend tomorrow responding to the interested applicants. So far I have met quite a few adjusters who can carry a good conversation.
Feels good to be done |
