While I would hate to be labeled a pessimist, I was just wondering if we need a doctor or metorologist to pronounce the death of the 2007 hurricane season. I just don't see weather patterns that would allow anything greater than a tropical storm/Cat 1 to hit US coastline. Didn't someone say that the record was 3 years without a hurricane hitting the mainland? Let's just hope that we aren't going for any records! |

Humberto hit Texas as a Cat 1, the count starts there. Hmmm one of the busiest weeks of the year and you call the season over? A long tracker heading west (out to sea is possible) and several waves coming of Africa (look at the current run of the GFS) 97L trying to survive and make a run for the eastern Gulf. 94L (likely to be Lorenzo) wanding in the sw gulf for a few days more. An intersting ara in the se gulf (CMS model takes it accross Miami as a ts the strenghtens it into George) that could form. We will see the L storm and maybe the M storm before the end of the month. Yup season is DEAD. |

Forecasters, (including you, Peter) have said all season....Wait til October. All have said we should watch in Oct because of expected weather patterns. I for one, am watching and waiting. |

I was just trying reverse psychology! You know, the old "a watched pot never boils", and Lord knows, I've been watching the pot (and the weather channel, and the weather blogs, etc., etc.). So maybe if I give up, one or more big canes will blow in and everybody will be going to work! So I'm daring Mother Nature to prove me wrong! Let all the wind shear patterns that are hindering development go away, and let's get some winds going. |
