I am   licensed in Florida and applied fo a Texas License March 30th. I have not received the license yet. I noticed they cashed my check so I assume it has been processed. I can't find any place on their website to check the status. Can anyone tell me where to look ?

In the darkblue header 2nd line, click on the gold colored “Agent Lookup” plug in your name as it appeared on your application.

When your name appears, your license will follow in a couple of days.

There is an additional $39 dollar fingerprint documentation fee and another form required now that didn't exist last year. If you didn't know about it, your license will be delayed. There is not much you can do but wait until they notify you and follow the procedures they outline.

My wife missed 17 hours of CE credits because of this delay. CE classes apply to the compliance period in which they are taken. That period is between the issue date of the license and the expiration date.

Also, money orders get processed faster than personal checks. Somewhere on the TDI site they will tell what dates of received applications are being processed at the moment. I can't remember; maybe you have to call them to find that out.

I'm not sure, but probably. An ex-cop/adjuster did our fingerprints during the Texas class. The next year I paid a retired officier at my local police station to do two more, one for Florida and one for Oklahoma (I think).

I guess each state wants to make sure the person they give the license to is not someone using the name of an out of state adjuster.

Ken, you will have to submit new fingerprints. I have multiple state licenses and each state requires their own set of fingerprints. If you call the information number, I believe that is where they will tell you which date application is being reviewed. If you didn't follow the instructions, you can certainly expect a delay. You can normally get fingerprinted at any police department/public safety office or even the school districts there in Florida. If you are anxious for the license I would get on the phone and then do ALL they tell you to do.

My texas license just arrived in the mail. They have waived the fingerprint requirment for those who are licensed in states that require fingerprints.

Glad to hear you got it. They normally don't waive that requirement.

When several of us got our Florida license, Florida required we get our letter of good standing from Texas. Time was really of the essence--just a couple of days left before our temporary license expired--so we jumped through the hoops to get it. At that time Texas would not let you order them on line so had to get someone to physically go to the DOI and get them then Fedex them to us. The next batch of folks didn't have to do that because some genius in Florida realized they could check on line for our license and also check for any infractions. Texas posts on line the infractions, who, what, when and the penalties received.

For those who pay little attention to the Texas requirements for CE--take note they now randomly audit your CE credits and fine you $50 for each missing hour in addition to obtaining the missing hour and you get your name posted on their website for the whole world to see. Easier to just get the credits.
