Hi guys! I've been lurking on this board for a while.

I got my TX adjusting license a few months ago. Attended classes for adjusting and Xactimate. I've done the Citizen's certification.

I keep seeing ads for "Daily Claims". I've applied and not heard anything other than thank you and you are on our roster.

So what does it take to finally get started? Is it really just a waiting game for a hurricane? Any suggestions?

Stephanie, I received your email and you did not mention where you are located. Storm claims are slowing down now. The last assignment I got was on July 31, 2007. From the email you sent it appears you have the training and now you need the hands on adjusting experience. I could have helped you back in February, March, April, May, June and July however unless some storm hits Northeast Texas we will all be waiting for a hurricane. I believe the reason you are not getting Daily Claim assignments is the fact that you do not have any actual adjusting experience and there are plenty of experience adjusters waiting for Daily Claim assignments. If another Katrina hits you will be called.

If you are not currently working, I would go work for a contractor or restoration company.  You will learn a lot and it will give you experience writing estimates with xactimate.

 

If you find work with a restoration company you will learn how to write a $15,000 estimate for pulling out 20 sf of carpet pad.

Stephanie, Do you have a four year college degree? If you do you should call the P&C companies in the Dallas area for an Aduster Trainee position. Another job you might consider is in sales with a major roofing company in the Dallas area where you will be measuring roofs and giving bids. This roofing experience will help you get on with the large hurricane vendors. What did U.S. Staffing promise you in the way of employment?
