I'm sure there are a lot of itate IA firms out there today. After working hard to file the necessary paperwork before 02/05/08 Citizens has now cancelled their RFP until a further date. Various reasons are given, none that would aalay concerns about the direction of this carriers claims handling direction. A lot of info on the subject is posted on www.claimsmentor.com

Typical beauracracy baloney. With all their rules and regs, they will be hard pressed to find good adjusters to work their claims. This has gone from bad to worse.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Marc- thanks for posting info about our forum topic. The link at ClaimSmentor forums only works when members are logged in to the site. However, here's a link for anyone wanting to read our blog on the same topic with lots of more details on the RFP cancellation:

Tom:
Several IA friends & I are of the opinion that the last thing some of the vendors want any more are good adjusters. "If its not in the data base, it does not exist." Or, "All wood floors can be repaired. None should be replaced."
Was at a Citizens certification conference a couple of years ago where the speaker said we could pay no more than minimums on carpet, paint, etc.
When the insured has 60oz Berber (I can give you $18.50/yd for that! Isn't that something?) or "For that 5-layer faux, I'm allowed to give you the princely sum of 32 cents a sq. foot."
I am guessing it all goes back to the now resealed McKinsey report. Delay, deny, defend. Why pay an IA to actually close a file?

This line of work has become so pathetically unstable.  It's sad to see what's happened to this profession.  It's been nothing but a constant stream of unhelpfullnes, kickbacks and indifferent changes that have added nothing new or fresh.  I'm not going to completley stop or anything.  But Independant adjusting is now just a shadow of its former self.  Insurance company's will penny pinch us untill we are payed virtually nothing, because they can.

I am sure all of us have taken time away from our family and friends, only for a decent amount of claims that ended up being kicked back 7 times because the font size on your scetch is to small (true story, only 2 moths ago)................................  And comming back praying your gas bill was covered.

Are they perhaps planning to hand off claims to a TPA and wash their hands of past issues?

To All:
As a Florida Resident I am appalled at the conduct and ethical/morale mantra of Citizens Property Insurance Company.

As an adjuster, it is hard for me to understand how the DFS can hold the private carriers to a high standard of service and fair claims handling, while allowing Citizens to run rough shod over the rights of the insureds as outlined in the contractual agreement called the Policy.

I wish some law firm would sue the hell out of Citizens for bad faith ...or better yet do it as a class action suit.......

No, I am not a PA.......I am a staffy....

That's my .02

Since my extensive Special High Intensity Training here at the massage parlor,  I am now a card-carrying certified "Doorman".

We are having a "bust" season and it's great!!

Now that I have a second profession,  I don't care what Citizens does.
