Looks like the west coast is warming up for a larger hit, based on this link:

With 2 -  5+ EQ's in the mid-west and another in CA the other day, sure sounds like something MAY happen. Perhaps we will see a few years of work?????????????????????

Looks like the USGS has a handle on the forecast:

I have checked the USGS site at least once a day for years, and I can't remember a week this active. Since I am now living in California, it is with mixed emotions I am monitoring the 1400 plus 1.0 or higher earthquakes this week.

Looks like they are getting bigger.  It may not be long before it's our turn again.

Second Earthquake In California This Week (Desert Local News)
By Jackie Devereaux
Desert Local News, May 8, 2008
COCHELLA VALLEY – Californians experienced their second earthquake this week. A light earthquake was felt throughout the valley here on Wednesday night knocking out power briefly.
The 4.2-magnitude temblor happened at 8:55 p.m. and it was centered approximately 50 miles SSW of Desert Hot Springs, according to the U.S. Geologicial Survey.
There were no reports of damage or injuries. Desert Local News readers reported their power going out briefly and feeling shaking at the time of the quake. This quake follows on the heels of a 5.2 quake felt in Northern California earlier on April 29 centered about 11 miles southeast of the Willow Creek in the Shasta-Trinity National Forest.

I will not get very excited about this, as there are no longer many EQ policies in CA. After the last big one, many could not afford the NEW premiums.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

There definitely has been a lot of seismic activity around the world this year. Its only a matter of time until the US gets a big one.
