Here is a quote from a article I read today about a recent hail storm in Hannibal, IL.

"There's some good news out of the hail storm in Hannibal this week.

Hotels in town are seeing a surge of insurance adjusters.

The good news comes in because the adjusters will be in town for about 30 days.

That means they'll also eat and shop in America's Hometown.

It's even better news for the Hannibal Inn and Conference Center because it recently opened under new management.

"This helps our hotel industry because usually this is a shoulder season. It's a little bit of a slump before the tourist season startws when we get booked every night. This helps us gear up for that season and gets employees ready. Let's us know where to improve," says Jennifer Kuenzle with the Hannibal Inn and Conference Center."

Here is a link to the article written by Chad Douglas of KHQA,article.

Looks like time for a  vocabulary lesson there, Larry.  I'm from a lil' bit north o' u you alls'......but, I was one tiime informed that "y'all" was the singular while "y'alls" is the plural, "yas, alls" is the possesive, and "yas, allsess" is the plural possessive.   Do you mean to say that we are all singularly important?

Mike and I must have attended the same school. It is nice to hear how we can change an economoy of  a town just by being present. Now many in that town will realize the sacrifice's we go through, yeah, right.

I have to disagrree with a couple of you on this subject.  Having been born and bred in yankeeland (Illinois) and attended the finer schools of the north, I moved to the south somewhat (Okla) some 26 years ago and the term y'all entered my vocabulary within a couple years of that point.  Having moved further south(Houston) 8 years later that term was further entrenched into the vocabulary, and I believe it is taught as part of the english cirruculum in the Okla and TX school system.  That being said, I don't think you will find any truely respectible southener who will tell you that y'all is singular (Tom, I realize that Ark is considered a southern state, but you will note my reference to "truely respectible" above.....).  A couple months ago there was a discussion on this very subject on David Rossmiller's Insurance Coverage blog, with numerous people writing in their comments.  it is linked here

Anyway, I do agree that adjusters bring a lot to an area besides just helping out those affected by an event.  A lot of what adjusters make on a storm stays in that given area which is a boost to their economy.

In about 1966 I was working a hail storm in Abilene, TX.  as a staffy. I went to the bank to cash an expense account check in about the 3rd week after the storm and the teller sent me to the Vice President to get approval on the check. The VP had stepped away and the president saw me waiting and called me in his office to assist me. It was rather slow and he ask me to sit down cool off and ask the secretary to bring me a cold drink. He then brought the very same subject up as the motels , resturants and gas station had all seen a big increase in revenue since the storm.

He then brought up a new subject that I had not thought about, he stated he had made many new loans to locals and contractors for large orders since the storm. It seems when people start replacing the roof they think of other things that need upgrades. Since he was second generation banker he kinda looked foward to the good hail storms on an average of 5 years apart as it was good for every ones business including  the insurance agents as people who did not have insurance would purchase it after a good hail storm.

In those days all the staffys were out by the pool at 1800 and I was known as Turkey Man as my employer had all the turkey farmers insured within 100 miles of Abilene. The president of the bank said he was finally glad to meet me as he had seen thousands of dollors of my insurance drafts and to send any customer with a draft to him to cash.

"Ya'll" is singular and "all ya'll" is plural!

And if someone need to borrow a tar arn, they are asking for your tire iron.
