I hadn`t seen anybody talk about all the severe weather the last few days.  What is everyone thinking work wise on this?  I talked to a couple of vendors and there still waiting.  Most of the hail seemed to be around an inch but there was also hundreds of wind damage reports in 7-9 states.

Is this it for talk? I can't believe there's no work out of this last round of storms. Michigan adjusters need a Michigan license, no temps are availible for any reason. There are a multitude of reports of tornado and hail here. It may be it's just to early!!

A) The storms just happened yesterday for the most part. If adjusters are needed, it won't be known for several more days.

B) With the hurricane season on the ropes, there are a TON of staff adjusters ready to be deployed. Pretty slim chance any IA's will see any work with the warm-bodies sitting at home collecting pay doing nada.

I spoke with one of my "team leaders" from 2005 with a major carrier. he said they were severely over staffed and were trying to cut back. I would assume that most carriers are in the same boat. They overstaffed after Katrina/Rita/Wilma expecting the worst, now they twiddling their thumbs, even with the little storms that are popping up. There may be a few assignments for a few folks, but I don't expect much to come from this. There are enough local IA's to handle any overflow from the staff folks. So, the travelers still wait.

It did produce claims.

I worked 4 wind claims today. Nothing fancy, mostly metal roofs torn from barns.

I'll be back at it monday with 4 more to do. Not sure how many more to come.

I did not travel to storm sites on a full times basis until 1994 thru 2005. I now remember how it feels to be at home for several weeks and not get one phone call to make any income in claims work for as long as 6 months.  I can not put my self in the shoes of people who have guit their day job and spent hundreds or thousands of $ on schools or classes; but this happens when you are WOW (waiting on weather)(offshore jargan).

I hope that some day all of you new people will be deployed, but it will take another Katrina to get all you working again. I have been blessed with many years of company and Independant Commercial Liability Experience in construction, energy, main street, products and completed operations.

This has been my bacon for the last 14 months. I am competing with ALL the good liability adjusters in Texas and survive by attention to details and my reports. Use this time to hone up on your writing and reporting skills and when you get deployed this will extend your stay. Please PM me if I can give you any hope.
