Where do you think he will hit?

What level do you think he will be when he hits land?

Ray,

That would be sweet. You could work from home. Got room in the yard for my tent?

*I* think it is way to early to make a prediction.  I do have some good Powerball numbers though.

After the debacle of Katrina, All of the notable forecasters have decided that they should not be so specific on the projected landfalls, even when they know it is as close to accurate as humanly possible.

Looking at the entire various track forecasts you see a difference of hundreds of miles. The last NHC says anywhere from Tampa to Texas.

This is a very strict CYA prediction. None of them wish to bear the ire of those that become victims. They knew that Katrina was going to hit NOLA but the predictions were not "right on". And because of that, many people were killed and billions of dollars were wasted.

It may be some time before we know where it will hit, but we deserve to have accurate predictions, so the inhabitants have a chance to escape. You don’t move millions of people in 24-48 hrs.

Caution is always preferred to devastation, IMHO>

Biggest worry I hear from my attorney's in LA is not about the storm hitting there, but the potential of the storm affecting the opening LSU game this Saturday in Baton Rouge. They can play in the rain (would rather not), but are concerned that after Katrina there may be an early evacuation order. Me personally, I wouldn't be concerned about the LSU game if a hurricane is approaching. Now if it was an Oklahoma State University game, that would be a whole different story.....

Hrm... I wonder if this storm does make landfall as a Cat 3 what are the chances of me getting to work it? I have my Texas License and am trained in Xactimate 25 w/ sketch, just never worked. With all the Starvin Marvins i think my chaances are still slim to none... LOL

but if someone thinks i do have a good chance what Rosters are my chances best at?

I can say beyond a reasonable doubt that nothing, including a CAT 3 Hurricane, will affect the LSU opener. I would advise all non-LSU fans to vacate Baton Rouge on game days.

PS. My wife and step daughter are LSU graduates. Care to guess where they will be Saturday?

This is the time for all new people who have a license to get on with the hundreds of vendors who will be looking for new people and experienced adjusters alike. For the first storm people who have never worked any type of loss. Try to hook up with an adjuster who can use a helper. You are not really worth anything, but if you have ever turned out one estimate in xmate you have a very good shot of getting on with a person WHO  can use helpers for $15.00 to $20.00 per hour plus $125.00 per day living expense. If you have a brain you will learn a lot in 7 days. Now is the time to ask for a percentage of the service fee bill. But it can be 60, 65, or 70. Now use your head no one is going to pay you 30%. You would be a full partner, without any risk and you know nothing. Ask for 10% of the total service bill. (you may be worth it at this point. Never ask more than 15% of the the total service bill and you will be a 25% owner in this operation at that time and spend the rest of the storm with a person who took a chance on you being a waste of their most valuable time. and Next year spread your wings. You will not make it unless you do something like this.

This is a very cruel but true story. A vendor calls you to go to the storm site and meet them at xx hour to get your file. Do not leave unless you have that vendors fee bill with the carrier that you will be assined to. Ask for paydays, and the percentage abd so forth.

Many vendors will ask you to deploy and give you 25-30 files tell you how to write the notes and take the photos and so forth and so forth, knowing full well that you will not be able to do the work.IT will Stop the phone from ringing by 25-30 policy holders(remember you have to call all 25-30 the first day-no pay), pull your files in 10 days, use your notes and photos and close the files without ever seeing the house and screw you out the fees and several thousand dollars in expense. Its sink or swim time now, just be careful. Just remember the carriers hire the subs to keep the heat off them from all the phone calls. Kinda makes a person who has been around a long time..think some evil people  are in catastrophe business , who prey on new blood.

Rule # ONE. It it only takes less than 3 min. to email all the contracts. Get it before you go.

Ray,

You want me to drive half way across the country to handle 25 - 30 files?

No one is absolutely worthless, at the very least you can serve as a bad example.

That model shows the formation of another storm behind Hanna which would be Ike.

My prediction:

Gustav and/or Hanna will make landfall and mix with toxic exhaust from generators and catastrophe adjusters’ vehicles. The system will then continue North to just West of the DelMarVa peninsula as a Southern depression.

At this point, the vortex of bad news will strengthen due to the permanent blanket of hot air over the Potomac being stirred up by the wingbeats of lame ducks preparing for their quadrennial migration. A maelstrom on Capitol Hill will result, prompting the government to vaporize a monumental quantity of taxpayer money in the hope of deflecting Category 5 criticism.

Optimists would have us believe that the current storm season will end on January 20th.

It's time to get familiar with the names Hanna, Josephine, Ike, and Kyle, because the tropical Atlantic is about to put on a rare burst of very high activity in the coming weeks.

Commitment...... If you can cut it... this is a good time to weigh all the options. Of course first will be some vender/carrier that gave you some spring hail or flood work.
