Scruggs still in the limelight: The kink below is about a lawsuit that Scruggs filed Thursday (in the same court he just got sentenced in) against a DC law firm, which was one to the ones that were defending the Rigsby sisters in the Renfroe v the Rigsby sisters suit over the stolen SF documents.  As mentioned previously, Scruggs told the sisters (verbally and not in writing) that he would indemnify them for any damages and legal fees they may incur as a result of anything coming out of them stealing the SF documents.  Well they had this DC firm and also a local AL firm handling their defense, and the DC firm withdrew from the defense back in March I think, stating that the Sisters "and others" have stopped paying their legal bills.  Turns out that this firms legal bill alone is to the tune of $1,700,000 and rising.  Scruggs is now claiming that he isn't responsible for it, the Scruggs Katrina Group is, and also that the legal bill is unreasonable.  I would venture to guess that the Sisters are the ones that signed on the dotted line for representation on this matter, and are going to be the primary ones responsible.  I don't think I would sleep well at night with that kind of legal bill hanging over my head, and that is for only one of their two defense firms.

$1,700,000 divided by the average storm fee bill equals a lot of roofs to climb. They really need to stay busy to pay that off.

Yeah, like in the next 40 years they might get that hummer paid off. I don't think the good Sisters are climbing many roofs these days as IA's, and I would bet good $$ that they don't have much future in the claims adjusting business. If you were a vendor or a claims manager would you want them working your files, knowing what you do about their past with SF/Renfroe, and always wondering if they are going to see what they percieve as fraud on the part of your vending co or the carrier and steal claim file information? I can't speak for others, but I for one wouldn't want them involved in any of my files. I don't know what they did before claims work, or if they have a degree in anything, but I would venture to guess claims handling isn't in their future.

They've probably been hired as document security advisors for the US Government as GS-81's or some such.

I don't know what a GS-81 is, but is that like the old deaf person at a government office desk that tells you to take a number when you're the only one there and doesn't act like they understand what you are wanting, but will find someone to help you when your number comes up?  It always made me feel secure that no one would remember or have any idea why I showed up in the first place, but at the same time very insecure that the information or documentation I had been given was correct or would hold up later.
