I was told this week in Florida, If a homeowner request arbitration, the home owner can not use there contractor which will be doing the work, and the insurance company  has to hire a non bias person to do the arbitration. I understand the umpire has to be someone neutral

Using someone who stands to make money if one certain party wins; as the umpire. Makes sense to me.  DUH!!

I strongly suggest that you either contact your Carrier and ask about the correct and true process of probably mediation and then appraisal.........or read your policy with the appropriate mandatory Florida Endorsement that explains the mediation process and appraisal process or call the Department of Financial Responsibility in Tallahassee........
