phone or computer waiting on those calls/e-mails to start? Have you repacked you gear and changed your oil. Are you excited. Or have you noticed that if it approaches the US; it is still 10 to 12 days away?  Flossie will just miss the big Island. Also expect 91L to land in Texas as a TS later this week (more flooding).  Should also see 92L before the weekend. (I hear the train a comin)

Twenty-five years ago, when the weather channel first came on the air, I turned to my wife and said, "Now, who would want to watch weather twenty-four hours a day?  They must have no life."

But, then again, Bill Gates once said he couldn't imagine that anyone would ever need more than 40 MB of space on the hard drive of their personal computer.

Life and storms are getting more interesting. My personal thoughts.

Flossie fizzled spared the4 big island. Erin feels like just south of Corpus with winds of 50mph and lots and lots of rain. Dean will come near Jamaica then?  If I was a betting man I'd put my risk money on East texas coast.

Calls and e-mails have started. Maybe it's time to check my gear.

I know TX (at least parts) does not need any more rain but I can not remember the last time here in KY we had as much of an inch of rain fall at one time but I know it must have been April because by mid June I watered the lawn trying to hold out of the standard 4th of July rains but they were only 4th of July showers this year. We got 11 inches out of the tail end of Katrina and I know NO does not need another hurricane. At 5 PM in the shade it is still 102 degrees. Except for the Navy, college and then graduate school I have lived within a mile of the same location for 56 years and I never remember this kind of heat or drought. I know FL needs like 50 inches of rain to get some lakes back to normal so even as bad as hurricanes are for those that get hit they can be huge blesses for others. Typically TX is praying for a hurricane inland this time of year.

We had four people pick Dean as the first hurricane to make US landfall; stormcrow, StormSupport, kds008 and RC (not me).  They missed the date and state, but could still win if Dean makes US landfall as a cane. The contest is at the bottom of the Cane Page.
