I'm a newbie, auto adjuster for 10 yrs and looking to get into property cat. It seems like Ike is a good time to transition.  Took cat triaining course and xactimate training. I live in Houston. No certifications yet. What's the best way to get started? Do I need certifications, if so, how do I get them?

First, what kind of cat training did you get? Can you go out, look at physical damage to a home or business, scope the loss and go back and write up an estimate of quality? If your answer is yes, Call Bill Slove at Cunningham Lindsey 1-800-998-5741, or contact Roy Cupps (who works for C&C) or call Crawford and Company in Atlanta.

Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

David, I did the same. and your right this is probably a good time. You should do OK, this is not rocket science. Just get as much training as you can, You should do fine. Try Pilot and Wardlaw, They both have close training classes.
