I was told by the Bank that if you Wanna Work Flood this coming year - there better be some storms.

Meanwhile I am driving first 50 miles free on most of these "flat rate" property loses, but at least it is keeping me from getting too rusty...

It is a 4 hour round trip to the closest NFIP class.  And you have to do it every year.  I see on the NFIP site they have an online training system for AGENTS, and I hope they will do that for adjusters some day.

I blew a whole day going to a seminar for CITIZENS Florida (plus did it again online for another vendor that wouldn't accept the other vender's cert, which was an error).  Then no storms...

Bob,

I have had a NFIP number for many years and I renew it every other year or so.

I honestly don't know how many miles I've driven going to seminars or how many hours I've spent listening to someone mumble while reading what I had in front of me.

The NFIP seminars are better but .............................

I've worked a total of 29 flood claims in my somewhat storied career. Got copies of 'em all.

It's so Ironic. I have done more flood files than you, and I don't have an NFIP cert. I just did the "Katrina only" State Farm class, and worked clean up for them in Slidell. The guys teaching for State Farm were very sharp (Michael Ferrier, Dave Plummer, Ed Olive). But we didn't get NFIP numbers.

I got my California license, which is a very hard one to get - then they waive the requirement for the recent fires, and previously waived requirements on earthquakes that I worked.

Oh well, better to have the cert's than not. I am debating getting NFIP certified, guess it depends on my file load as the class time approaches.

Speaking of flood, I just added about a dozen photos to the gallery, under the Katrina category.
Here's some bonus ones of Slidell, which is near where the eye of the storm made landfall. Lot's of boats where they don't belong.
