| | "FIMA's ADJUSTMENT STANDARDS AND REQUIREMENTS: The FIMA's adjustment standards and requirements have been revised and expanded in order to clarify what the NFIP expects from the adjuster in the adjustment of a flood loss. What follows supersedes the "NFIP Minimum Standards and Reporting Procedures," which have been distributed in the past. Since there are several significant changes from the previous "Minimum Standards," adjusters should review these revised standards and requirements carefully and become thoroughly familiar with them."

| | TO: All NFIP Flood Certified AdjustersFROM: James A. Sadler, CPCU, AIC, Director of ClaimsNational Flood Insurance Program DATE: November 26, 2007SUBJECT: 2008 NFIP Adjuster RecertificationFEMA is requiring all independent adjusters who adjust flood losses under the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) to attend a 2008 NFIP Claims Presentation. Beginning May 1, 2008, there will be modifications to the NFIP adjuster certification process, and it is imperative that you attend at least one NFIP Claims Presentation to maintain your "Active" status. "Active" adjusters who do not attend a 2008 NFIP Claims Presentation will be reclassified "Inactive," which may affect your eligibility to adjust NFIP flood claims. You must complete a claims presentation and submit your application for certification to the NFIP Bureau and Statistical Agent no later than May 15, 2008. The NFIP Adjuster Certification Application will be available at the end of each claims presentation; you can also obtain it online at http://www.fema.gov/pdf/nfip/adj_cert_app.pdf. All attendees must register in advance, using the enclosed 2008 NFIP Claims Presentation Schedule and Registration Form. Review the dates and locations, make your selection, then complete the Registration Form and mail it with your $10.00 check or money order—do not send cash—to the address on the form. Online registration is not available. We expect large attendance at each location, so register early. Please do not call the NFIP Bureau and Statistical Agent about the status of your registration. Once your Registration Form has been processed, a confirmation letter will be mailed to the address you provided on the form. (source) |
